Hair that is--this includes guys as well.
Is your hair short, long or medium.

How did you keep it prior to turning 50?

Just 3 weeks ago I cut off my very long, long hair. I just love it.
As a kid my mom kept it "Twiggy" short. Once I turned of age I began to let it grow--I wanted long hair soooo bad.

Of course it grew as slow as possible but now that I am older and want to keep it shorter--it grows like a weed!

Anyone remember the musical "Hair"?

well for sure
I couldnt get away with this length
when I was in the forces

Mary says: real recently
that I maybe ought to get it thinned out a bit
and am not one to argue
This summer I could be dripping perspiration
shoulder length (over collar)
Since 50 It's gotten a bit longer between hair trims

I want long hair, even at the age of 54. But my hair doesn't seem to want to be long. So I cut it on occasion. I keep hoping I'll wake up one morning with long, beautiful gray hair. Well, the gray is there, but the length is the problem.
I don't color my hair or ever have it 'done' at a beauty shop. That's one of those luxuries I can't afford, and don't really want, anyway.
But I still have plenty of years to let it grow. And I'll have that lovely braid in time.

(in fact, I just changed my hair on my character to be more truthful.)

Traditionally military short, but the last few years I have let it go, and often covers neck at back. Whereas I used to get haircut each week, I am doing well now to get it cut once or twice a year.

My hair is quite thick to boot. Wife says she would like to have my hair, the thickness, not the lack of colour.

You look very distinguished Jim.
My hair is presently shoulder length which works best for me as it is poker straight. I was the envy of all my curly haired friends in the late 60's as I didn't have to "iron my hair". I am almost 59 and I think it still works ok for me and my husband likes it that way. Jan

Funny you asked.
Just few weeks ago I cut my hair. I always had full long hair. But I decided that after 50 long hair perhaps is not that becoming.
So, what do you think? Attached photo is how I am now and my avatar is how I was with longer hair.
Thanks!
You look lovely in both pictures! I don't have a preference, so I would go with whatever is easiest! ha! Which do you prefer?

Hi Diana

In reply, I can only say that too-much 'atop'
can be a drain on our bodies resources
and 'shorter-hair'
is more-manageable all-around
not-least because it can become 'difficult' to reach-for

Thank you vwey much! It is taking me time to get used to my new look. I get many compliments now and people are saying that this is making me look younger (?). My men, however (DH, DS and DB) don't like it because I do not look like me. So, I realy do not know what to do.

Your new 'do' looks lovely on you..

My hair had been "growing' uncut for about 2 years.. it was halfway down my back.. & I liked it long.. but the ends were splitting & with the humidity here now, it was frizzing on my..

I have a lot of hair.. but it is fine.. not curly enough.. but not straight.. wavy..

So I went to a salon at lunchtime last week.. and said "FIX_IT!"

And she did.. *smile*. She took off some of the length... cut some layers in.. and now I like the way it lays.. I don't have to do much to it at all.. just blow it dry.. which is so kewl as I'm getting ready for work in the mornings..

Dianac--I love your hair. Of course I too just cut off a ton of hair--I started out small (first cut) with shoulder length with some long layers but it grows so fast in two weeks one could not tell I had even cut it. It is very thick--straight when its long but natural curl and wave when its short.

I was born with naturally curly hair which is now turning naturally straight! Before I turned 50 I wore my hair a variety of ways. As a grade school kid I had long curls which my mom fixed with some kind of rags on a regular basis. I can't remember just how. Using the "rags" method was really "in" back in the 40's. In high school it was so curly that I had a short hair cut(not a pony tail as most think teens in the 50's wore). And kept it the same in college. Actually we called my cut a D.A. or a Pineapple cut which many girls as well as guys wore. Only I didn't use grease, thank you! :D But after college I let it grow out and long for several years sometimes wearing it back and other times piled on top of my head (a sort of 60's look) and later I cut it again and so forth.

Presently I keep it medium length. As it has turned gray in color it is much straighter than it used to be...but still has a little wave so I don't have to do anything but cut it and keep it combed. Even straight hair is fine these days. I have never had a permanent. Right now it is getting shaggy and I need a good trim.
