Long-distance relationships

I think long-distance relationships should be avoided at our age because we're not mature enough to handle it.
So... What're your thoughts forum?

Dunno, I dated a foreign exchange student for a few months, and was assuming I'd have to deal with a very long distance relationship, but we broke up before she had to go back to Spain...

I don't think most people can handle those type of relationships, to be honest.

I would agree with you. A long-distance relationship is hard at any time...even just long-distance friendships are hard...

I think they're possible, but not probable. I know a few couples in our family who have worked out, but the majority of them don't. I think you should try it if you're really into the person you're dating, but don't make it too serious or at least don't be suprised when it doesn't work. Go for it just to try though. See what happens.

I think it puts such a strain on the relationship. There's a vast difference between talking on phone/skype/email and physically meeting. Too big a difference in my opinion to be able to experience the relationship in full. It's just all too limiting.

Depends what you mean by our age..... I would say it might be different for a 15 year old compared to a 19 year old

I wouldn't really want to date someone long distance anyway. It might be possible for some people though. I think if you say never in things like this it is far to restrictive.

Remember, all stereotypes are wrong, including this one.

i think it all depends on who you are talking about.
Long distance relationships , when you are a teen, are hard. It takes time, money, patience, and commitment. And when you really think about it, its hard to find teens that have all of those, and it makes it harder on the relationship aspect if you dont have one of those. Money of course is an optional thing i guess but long distance calls and letters can add up after a while.
On the other hand though, teens who do have all of those qualities can make it work. Ive seen it done before and I was one of the people who had doubts but I am now a believer. I, myself, am currently thinking about having a long distance relationship. Right now we are going to remain friends because we know what it takes to be in a relationship and we are just not at that road yet. And who knows, we may never get to that road but its the friendship part now that will make us or break us.

I think its not the preference, but some can make them work. My brother (Aussie) married an american, and he had only one, six week trip, physical contact in all that time. So its definately hard, but it is possible if he/she is the right one!! lol!

Long distance relationships can be awesome! I've had a couple.
But at the same time it is hard to be away from the person you love.
So most of my long distance relationships ended..... but I still think about them today and it makes me sad that we couldn't be together.
