The Pope issued statement

" Deeply saddened by the news of the terrorist attacks in central London, the Holy Father offers his fervent prayers for the victims and for all those who mourn.

While he deplores these barbaric acts against humanity, he asks you to convey to the families of the injured his spiritual closeness at this time of grief.

Upon the people of Great Britain, he invokes the consolation that only God can give in such circumstances. "

Well it was misleading, the Australian Islamic Council has not condemed the attack.

Take it up with the newspaper, who had the headline, not me. I'm not Australian, so I don't know the ins and outs of Austrilian muslim politics.

The President of Afgahnistan said
"this terrorist act is shocking and despicable. It is aimed at killing innocent civilians, and I condemn it in the strongest terms.

The Afghan people send their sympathies to the people of Britain. Afghans have suffered at the hand of terrorists for many years and understand the pain and suffering that terrorism causes.

My thoughts are with the families of the victims and those injured."

Pakistan have also joined in denouncing the bombers.

The article did explain that it was Victoria

Exactly, we can't condemn all Afghans/muslims b/c of the actions of a few.

It sounds to me like a sleeper cell was responsible for the blasts. Whoever did it, it was obviously planned...

I was very startled the first time I heard this report. I hope that the families of everyone hurt or killed in the attacks can cope and that everyone who was hurt in the blasts can get the medical care they need. :(

CNN is saying it was a very organised attack, and that alot of planning would have had to go into it.

Thinking tactically; it was a bizarre choice of targets. The area round Aldgate is a muslim majority area, so why hit it? To try and kill, main and upset British muslims? It make sno sense unless these people have no sympathies with British Muslims. British Muslims have no smpathy for them it seems

Very true. My dear akhi (brother in urdu), lives and works near these areas. He and his family are lying low for awhile, just in case.

I can't vouch for coping but by all accounts the medical care was not a problem.. London has been preparing for this for years and the rescue was very effecient... I have heard no reports of people going without medical attention...

It makes no sense looking at it, but what does these days. If it was a islamic attack, then why attack their area?

Same could be said in Iraq why kill there own people.

But looking at a map it appears that the attacks all occured along the same main road, is this correct?

Can I ask why they were preparing for it for so long? :o What made the transportation such an obvious target? Because I've heard that too, on a couple news stations.

Not preparing for this specific attack but they have been on alert since 9/11 for fear of an attack. They were worried about the tube because it is impossible to enforce decent security there due to the volume of people passing through every day...
