  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Another weekend comes and goes and the more I laugh about it.

.

Rant has to do with my brother. My brother has a show car that he likes to worship, He was at a car show that was 2 miles from me. I didn't know about it till after the show. I would have liked to see him. He was the one that always complaining about not seeing me or my other brother. What's the deal with that?

I can understand you being upset with your brother. Some people just don't think about others. Of course you could have went to the car show, right? I don't get the ex-gal pal rant unless you are still hooked on her. Seems like a waste of time to me. She obviously is in her own little world and doesn't seem like she wants to change. It is sad that we have to put up with people huh? Maybe you could ask God why this is bothering you so much and what is He trying to show you in these situations. Just a thought.

No I'm not hooked at all. But I needed somethuing to do. It would seem that I have caught a bug and the drug my dear Dr. script for me mage me a little loopy. I know it I should handed the script back to him and said no thanks. In the end I ask God about it and his answer was NO! This was the same answer that some gal said to me a while back. Once again I beg your pardon.

If the person is always late that should be a warning to all. My singles pastor hit it on the head with her . She is of the attitude of being entittled to stuff and she won't improve till she gets over that. in other words she is still a 12 year old in a body of an 4o year old. There is better catches in the sea.

I'm still running!! At this rate I be next county by noon!

I'm planning holiday lunch in the park I over heard a few things that I shouldn't

1) I wonder if he is bring cards to play with I'm so tired of volleyball.
2) I sure wish he would tell us who is coming to it. I just won't go to the park if Sally is there.
3) He saked if I wanted to go. I told him I would be there unless someone has a better party. Then I'll skip his party.
4) I can't believe he wants us to sign up for this party, he gave a lame excuse that he wants to know how much food that needs to brought. There is going to be some suprize when I only have package of hotdogs and a bag of chips for the 5 people who did sign up and no food for the other 45 who didn't

These are the comments thhat people in my singles group give. These are the things that I hear alot. Many are because people are afraid to commit to things.

Yep I have heard comments like this before. Commitment is a nasty word to some people.
It's like trying to get Sunday school teachers or worship leaders or what have you. If it takes more than 5 minutes to prepare or if it's an inconvenient Sunday then I can't make it and you need to find someone else.

The party went off this holiday weekend. I had enough food for 50 and I had 65 showed up of the 65 that showed up I had only 15 that actually signned up for it.

Now I had planned to have a water balloon toss and that did happen but I had a gal grab a balloon and hit me with it. I then grab a balloon or two and nailed her with them. But during the exchange she complained about not getting wet. I just told her that she should thought about that before she threw the balloon at me.

This was the same person that also compained about the tug of war and badminting games that I had set up. The point was that she said that none of the game that I was play was for a muture adult. I then saked her what she wanted to play and she said that she wanted to play cards. At our church we have a second singles group made up of older singles and thats the type of events that they plan for their pinnics, euchre, brigde, and other broad games. I then suggested that perhaps she might want to go to that party, she then said that they charge $5.00 . And that my group doesn't charge and we have a limitless (At least up to a point) amount of food and that they rations drinks and food. It was funny because she soon took off in her new Caddy to go to the other group....

By and large it was a great party. One of the gals said that my water balloon toss was just a christian version of a wet tee shrit contest. I guess it is, LOL... I just wish i had a better idea on who going to show up so that I would have enough water balloons, 100 of them just wasn't enough perhaps next one we will have 250 of them. Everyone gets wet at my partys.

Well, I'd have signed up, makes a lot of sense to have a clue as to how many are comming.
I'm sure I'd have enjoyed your party. So just as you pressed on, don't let those negative comments control you.

praise God you all had a great time.

It was a very good party. Each of my friends asked how was going to top it...Negative comments never have much effect. The next one that is coming up is my trip to the west coast of Mi, to the beach.

I have found in the last few years that many in my singles group to accept an invite and the at the last min back out. The last wedding we had they sent out 150 invites and only 90 respond and the day of the event they 145 guest. The real problem is that people here think that it's ok to work that way.

wildthing,
That is interesting the differance in your local culture and here in MA. I don't think that would happen here. We'd consider that to be very inconsiderate.
dayhiker

I consider not RSVP ing very rude. It's the local singles culture no one wants commit to any thing. This last Saturday my singles group went down to Detroit with the church to rehab an old house so that it could be used. my group had 40 signed up and only 7 actually showed. Not that this got in the way of finishing the project it didn't. We just had to work longer and harder.

This Sunday we had a teacher taught about wellingness to step out and doing these type of things, being a service to others. In some cases it's a greater message then thumping the Bible.

All I can say is that if my singles group is mirror of what is going on with the church that we as Church are in trouble.

Gee, that amazes me that people could be that inconsiderate.

I've heard of people not being able to say no, so they say yes and then never show. Is that common with your group? Earlier comments sounded like it was the other way, people would commit and then show ...

Well, nomatter what the place, people will be interesting ... LOL
