LOCAL AREA MISSIONS

Our church has a missions team that ministers to the local area. This month we are collecting diapers for babies whose parents are in need. Next month we are putting together back packs with toiletries in them for children that have entered the Foster Care network in our county. Last month we collected backpacks for some children in an orphanage in Honduras and we hope to get our homeless ministry better organized by September. Our church Fellowship building has 2 showers in it, as well as other amenities for them. We have a free meal once a week on Thursdays for the whole town, and other things going on too.

What kinds of Missions does your church do for your county (and occasional distant areas)?

We've shifted all our missions permanently to Europe in past decade, but back when we were in spread through central and north Florida, we did a lot to provide holiday meals and help in hurricane relief. And also clean up neighborhoods and just spread joy where we could. I think that's a nice little example of how the churches can do a lot of good. In the kind of fast pace capitalist society the US is, it's often hard for people to just stop and smell the roses, and parents and families are often just too busy. With the church, filled with love of God and God's love for the flock, and the teachings of the Lord we can spread God's love for the simple reason that it should be spread, and bring together a whole community for it. When we moved to Europe first to Greece, and now in France and Germany, even though we're more focused on building churches and bringing people to the pews, it's still the little things in the neighborhoods that people appreciate most, and ultimately bring more people in to support all our projects.
