Lithium preparation differences

Anyone with exprience in taking Lithium:

When I first began Lithium treatment the pill was round and white, scored down the middle with Camcolith printed on top. 400 mgs...I was supposed to cut that in two to get my 200mgs twice daily.

Then my pharmacist told me that Trinidad (the bad thing about having not only third world country status internationally but third world country approach to mental health as well) was going to stop importing Lithium. My doctor addressed the issue and told me that a certain brand would not be imported (Camcolith) but there would be Lithium on the market. So the new Lithium comes. Only in 300mgs, white, not scored. My pdoc says that by all reports the 300mgs of this brand (the preparation that is) is equal to 200 mgs of the other one. This was barely 2-3 months ago.

Yesterday I went to fill my prescription and recieved a barbie pink capsule. I was like what's this. This new brand comes in 300mgs...I'm not sure if it's the 300 I'm supposed to be taking and my pdoc cn't be sure at this point. It's just a matter of trying it out and reviewing the effects. The first dose I took last night made me feel sick...until I ate and it cleared up a bit.

Anyone else know of the potency of the pink capsule lithium as compared to the white camcolith brand?

Do a google image search. Various manufacturers use various capsules/tablets. Ususally the pink capsules are by mylan here and are lithium carbonate, realease quicker and shorter duration of action. This MAY and I EMPHASIS MAY be the med you have and explain the nausea, tablets I have seen here in US that are white are frequently eskalith and release slower and have a longer duration of action. Our US pdr's (physician desk references) come with pictures to match to pills, so an image seacrh on google may help you find out the info you are looking for.Any identifying marks on the pills??? Lithium carbonate here has 54 463 imprinted on it. Not sure if this helps, but google or the like is an amazing tool these days.
