Hi, im trying to make a newspost about a list of RPG games that are christian or christian friendly.

and those who are absolutely not, and if u can't think of both, tell me how u play your games to stick with a lil christianity..

it's ok to play D&D (and the like) as u wish because your view is to have fun and dont see any harm in playing a wizard, and i do not say other wise.

I am just looking for info to make a newspost about christian perspective on gaming.

gimme your top ten:

regards,

Indi

Battlefield 2
The action is intense...but it doesn't contain any blood. (when a person get's blown up by a grenade they comically fly up into the air)

It's a FANTASTIC way to fellowship with other christians too. I go on a couple Christian servers. :) (that and just great over-all male bonding for you and your dad or friends)

I think he really meant RPGs, not video games.

Aberrant (by White Wolf) isn't a bad RPG; it's based off of superhero comic books. If you can think of a comic book hero or villain, he can be statted using the Aberrant system. Not demonic or anything; more like X-Men actually.

As far as video games go, the Kingdom Hearts series has been pretty good. Comic-style violence, Final Fantasy-style magic (fire, ice, etc.) and a couple of bare midriffs; that's it. Good storyline and characters (in all senses of the word).

I'll preface by saying that most any system can be used, since the GM determines what goes or doesn't go in his campaign. AND the game is a product of the imagination, aka not real. That being said:

GURPS - A Generic system where the GM determines what the gaming world is all about.

D6 - West End Game's generic system, for some reason split into fantasy, modern and sci-fi core books for no reason.

d20 Modern - Again, a generic rules set for you to use as you wish.

Honestly, I have never seen an RPG that is a problem if you have a strong and confident faith. Some games may have other religions, but that doesn't mean anything, really. There are many other religions in the real world, so why can't games have their own? Just back away if it makes you stumble. And let me revise my first statement. There are two things out there that I think a Christian should avoid. "The game that shall not be named" and "The book that shall not be named". Explicit sexuality does not belong in games of any type.

D&D
Shadowrun
Vampire
Werewolf
Mage
In Nomine
Toon
Ars Magica
Deadlands
GURPS

All of these are potentially excellent games for Christians, offering a great deal of room for Christian development and/or witnessing.

what are you talking about?
I'm a pro evolution guy, it's just that this guy is asking for some games christians can play, and as you may know Christians take evolution as an offence.(well, at least some parents who call my Biology teacher and make a drama all about her teaching evolution to their children)

Super Mario RPG was good. I'm in the middle of Paper Mario 2 right now, and the plot seems to involve a demon that has to be destroyed. Not exactly a christian game, but SMRPG was really good. :)

As for FF, KH, LoZ, etc.. I try avoid games that deal directly with evil spirits and magic abilities. Although I will admit to being a big fan of all three series. ^_^

It's important to remember that these games take place within the realms of FANTASY. By some of this logic, we shouldn't read any books or watch movies that mention magic or mythical things, because we might actually go out and try to DO them! Oh no!

If your faith is true and you are relatively mature, gaming should not be a problem to you. Just don't let it take the place of God in your life; I know a few people for which it has.

I just thought I might point one thing out about pokemon it might not be problem with group you think since the show presents evolution as a fanatsy type transformation.

Heh, I played Pokemon growing up and I came out alright, didn't I? ^_^

Personally, it's all up to whether or not it's going to affect your beliefs. If you're naive and will pretty buch believe anything you see, stay away from Pokemon.

(Or pretty much stay away from gaming in general. o.o")

In other news, if you like MMO's I personally love Ragnarok Online. There's a second one coming out not too far from now, should be worth checking out. n.n

exept for Pokemon because....well...evolution?

I would very strongly disagree with the first statement here.

An "E"-rating game could portray the accumulation of material wealth as not only the highest goal, but the only meaningful one. This strikes me as every bit as bad for children as, say, a game in which you systematically hunt and kill people because they are "different". Once you're rejecting core tenets of the faith, it's all pretty much the same.

Pokémon "evolve." Evolution precludes literal creationism, therefore Pokémon denies some forms of Biblical interpretation.
