Limiting time on forums

God gave me some confusing, hard to interpret messages that I thought to mean I should leave the forums. I now do not think that to be the case. Rather, I think He wanted me to greatly limit the amount of time I spend here, and leave for at least 24 hours. I was off the forums 24 hours yesterday, and I started to find myself and get some Christian witnessing done. Both good things. I would not have accomplished as much had I spent several hours talking on the forums like I usually do.

Yeah I remember I was addicted to 2 sites in the past. Yahoo answers and another forum, as soon as YA started dying down I simply left, I thought I never would but I did. Then the other forum was so dark and the people complained alot so I ended up leaving.

I feel having alot of things to keep yourself busy helps you not to lean on forums so much. However, since thus is a christian forum I can see myself being on here for a long while to come.

Well I can't say I'm surprised that whatever it is you are talking to told you to come back. That's how psychosis works, it isn't based on logic or reason but whatever feels right or wrong and can change at any time(hmm this kind of sounds like our president weird:/). Whatever you are talking to is having you go on a schizophrenic roller coaster ride of coming and leaving and it makes absolutely no sense to listen to this voice you have. Just because a voice says they are God or seems like it is God does not make it God. Especially when it keeps flip flopping and changing, the true God does not change his mind back and forth every day like what it is you are talking to.

Well that surely is going to be difficult when you have a voice constantly telling you to do contradicting things.

I'm online for 12 hours a day, 3-4 days a week depending on my work schedule. It's part of my job in corporate security. I monitor the internet for breaking news and weather that could potentially affect one of dozens of our offices around the world.

I also work graveyard shift, so I am sitting in a 12'x16' room with one other guy in the middle of the night.

Online forums are a blessing...

That being said, I've found some forums to be toxic and full of negative people. I've fallen into that category myself too many times...

I've also found it difficult to "fit" in a specific forum. I'm 48, divorced and single, conservative, Christian, outdoorsy, and educated.

Hanging out on conservative firearms sites means I have been targeted for being a Christian since so much of the conservative movement in America has been co-opted by atheists and agnostics. It's a disturbing trend, really.

Hanging out in the Singles forum and my age and conservatism makes me not really fit in either. I simply don't have the patience or grace to put up with much of the nonsense. I know, my fault. Mature singles forum is great, but there are like 5 people that sporadically post.

Tried the political-themed forums, but honestly had no idea so many Christians were liberals and progressives; that really made me question my faith.

So I continue to wander the forums looking for a place to discuss little things like annoying pets or new recipes without being drug into a drama-filled argument by those who disagree with me religiously or politically.

It's got to be around here somewhere...
