In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

lifted weights....and got weaker?

Got a question. Just started really lifting with a co-worker of mine. The first week I was doing all right for a guy who hasn't lifted in almost ten years. Now when we did another cylcle the next week ( Chest and shoulders ) the weights I did before I could barley even lift off the ground? It got worse two days later when I tried bi's tri's and back. Is this normal that I had to shift to a lighter weight?

I'm thinking KTJ4L is kidding.

The body needs adequate rest, nutrition to support growth whether in strength, power, endurance. Even those who regularly lift, periodically have to lift lighter weights. We can't always all go up.

I would suggest ramping up in a gradual manner, paying for close attention to your rest, nutrition, and how you execute the exercises. Good form is essential, otherwise you increase your risk of injury.

Getting into good shape takes time.

True, also what time you worked out, a.m. or p.m., what you ate or did not eat, temperature in the room, etc. I know when I teach an a.m. class i am on fire, when I teach an evening class, it takes a while to get going and I have to think harder, and I don't have the same energy/strength etc. For females, monthly cycles play a role too.
Another great question, and yes I agree with Big Rob, you do have plenty of strenght gains ahead, God Bless,J :wave:

Right on! Great tips from the gang....Try going alittle lighter with the weights, technique is more important now. Try the dumbbells rather than the straight barbell if you are using that. Try getting more sleep than what your getting and do drink plenty of water and do eat the "right" foods, ie fruits,vegtables, lean sirloin,buffalo,turkey(white meat) fish high in omega 3's and 6's, lean organic free range chicken, and egg whites(also organic). Limit your intake of dairy. Do try to always work out with a partner besides the Holy Spirit the first month, to hold you accountable and enourage you if you get the temptation to slide by a day and perform couch techniques using the remote. Ha!
