First off let me say I've been a christian my whole life. I always thought growing up that I would be a pastor's wife or missionary or something like that however god never called me into ministry.....I have been working with the kids/youth in our church but I can't help wondering if this is it? I mean, I"m 25, love the Lord but is this all life is going to be? Working M-F and going to church on Sundays...I dont know...I guess as a teenager I couldn't wait to be an adult, now I'm 25 and I look at my life and wonder if this is all it's gong to be..Sorry for rambling but has anyone else every felt like this?

Is being a missionary something you really have a heart for? If so, then go on as many short term mission trips as you are able. You will quickly discover whether this is something you really feel called to. Often, God's "callings" come when we start taking steps toward certain ministry activities.

You say "is this all there is?" in regard to working with kids, but are you doing it because you feel you're supposed to, or do you really enjoy it? If you stopped, would you miss it?

Is there something you love to do? Is there something that everytime you hear about it your intrest is piqued and feel your heart pulled in that direction? If so, pursue getting involved in some way.

It looks like you're disappointed in your spiritual life which means that God is probably even more disappointed. If you've been properly seeking God's will for your life,He should have given you direction by now. There are several steps you can take that will correct the problem.First,if you're not already doing so,regularly read and then change your life to conform to New Testament teachings. For instance have you been working on this one:HE WHO LOVES THE WORLD IS AN ENEMY OF GOD.Second,it's important to regularly ask God to tell you how you can serve Him.Taking an interest and aptitude test (you can find them in books in the library) will give you some careers to investigate and plan to get an education for because the test will tell you what specific jobs you have both interest and appitude for.Of course, before taking the test, you will need to pray for a number of days asking God to intervean so that the answers you come up will result in the career choice He wants for you,.Finally,if you have A GREAT DEAL OF SUSTAINED FAITH ,you can use this technique:ask God to tell you on a specific day what He wants you to do with your life. You can even coie up with a sign that you want God to give you so that you are certain of the answer you receive on the date you have selected. When I used this technique,I asked God to send someone to my home on a certain date to tell me what career to choose.I asked Him to have this person He chose as His messenger to talk about the horrible evil of racial bigotry so that I would be certain that this person was appointed by Him.On the day I selected,a woman unexpectedlly dropped over. This woman was a perverted white racist but on that day she was preaching racial justice like Martin Luther King. She later married the lay leader of the Episopal Churches in our county.God decided to change two lives that day!

Faith isn't faith until it's tried. I took my position for granted until it was taken away and then I saw what a blessing it was and how important it was to those I served. If we focus on "self" and self satisfaction, then we have lost sight of the fact that we have denied self and even died to self if we are baptized into the new life we have in Christ. To deny self and pick up our cross, daily, is no little chore, and Jesus is always there to help us, but developing patience is tough and can only be done in time. The humbling of oneself to God's service reaps great reward, and working with youth seems to me quite a challenge. As mentioned earlier, valuing ourselves by the world's standards would be a mistake and cause frustration.
I pray God will give you a vision and fresh look at what you are doing and how important it is to the harvest, and that you will continue to grow strong in the innerman, in His grace.

Matthew 16:24 ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

1 Corinthians 15:31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

Galations 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

I'm sorry, PM, but my heart was absolutely crushed when I read this response. It is such a distortion of God's heart and nature.

Duhfur, I pray you did not take his post to heart.

God does not call everyone the same way and to insinuate that someone (especially as young as 25) who has not discovered what the Lord is calling them to is a dissapointment to the very the Lord nothing less than tragic.

Duhfur, you're so not alone, and you have not done anything wrong. I used to agonize about what I was supposed to be "doing" for God, too. I cant tell you the stupid stuff I used to put myself through trying to find out what that was. Then one day, the Lord asked me "Who do you think is more important to the King: a very skilled worker ... or his closest friend that he can trust and confide in?" In that moment, the Lord had shared a very tender part of His heart to me. He showed me that most Christians want to work for Him, when He is looking for trusted, intimate friends.

That's exactly how the Lord called the greatest heros of the Scripture: Abraham, Noah, Enoch, Josheph, Moses, Joshua, David, the disciples and the list goes on and on.

The very cool thing about that is when the Lord shares His heart about a matter, He will often give you the priveledge of taking part in the matter, and from there, if He has a specific calling for your life out of that, He will show you. In my case, He's not called me to anything specific, instead, He has simply asked that I be available to do for Him whatever is needed in the moment, which is just as great a calling as any other.

Just ask the Lord you want to become someone He can call His friend, and watch the awesome things that happen.

In His Love,

Well, you need not to be hurrying up... just wait on the will of the Lord for your life. He knows your plans and even before you were born, He already know everythiing about you. When will He call you and use you. God has a perfect timing for everything here on earth. And it includes all of us. If you really know His purposes for your life and understand, you later then understand how it is important to live a Christian life. It's how you please and glorify god in evrything you do. Because God is using you in small things first before you will be used in BIG things. He wants to test how you could glorify Him in everything you do....

You might be settling on something or not looking for what God really wants you to do in life. Search yourself and fervently pray to God, asking if there is a greater will and calling for your life.. ask God to close the doors of opportunity for anything that isn't in His will for your life, and to guide you confidently, with peace, to the doors He wants you to walk through.

Don't let Satan, the great accuser, get you down in the dumps about life. Our life here on earth may merely be likened to a "waiting room", but we have many things to accomplish while we are here, for the glory of God.

Ask yourself this daily: Am I doing all that I can to glorify God?

Peace be with you.

No, I went on a missions trip as a teenager and while it somewhat touched me and all, I"m not reall drawn to it. I feel home missions is more important.

I do enjoy working with the kids/youth but I wonder if I'm really making a difference. I am starting to think that is satan toying with me.

Is there something I love to do? Not really.which is a really good point..I love animals but I can't work in a vet office because of my back. I like the aptitude test idea...I always wanted to see what it would say.

Makes sense, I need to me patient and wait on the lord. I have had a desire to do that lately at church and I have, I will continue!
