  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And I just started a Paintball Outreach Ministry (10 Commandos Paintball). I organize paintball outings for youth groups. Tey use my equipment, I get everything at wholesale, so it lowers the cost per person from about $70+ to maybe $40 each. We head out, play paintball, BBQ then have a devotional. First outing is July 10th, so if you're in SE Michigan you're welcome to join us.

That sounds really cool. $40 though - that's in US dollars, right? How much ammo does that include? It costs about the equivalent of $25 to $30 US per person to play paintball here. :D

I was thinking more like Handyman stuff. SO far all I can do with cars is:

1. Open hood
2. Stare
3. Point

But I hear cars are just like computers, robots and rips in the fabric of time. Leave them alone, and eventually they'll fix themselves.

OH...well, I KNOW I can give you full-time employment with handyman stuff....yikes! I'm waiting for this place to cave in around me. lol! As for cars...yep, that's about what I can do too although usually before I take it to the shop I do some homework as to what the problem might be and pretty much tell the mechanic what he should check....kinda ticks 'em off coming from a 'female' lol!

My next plan is to start a youth-group based financial something or other. Either a Church Investment Club, or maybe just a class on savings/investment stuff.

Oh yeah, I also co-run a yearly BBQ called "Meatfest". we get about 7 guys (r girls) on grills, BYOBeverages, food's free, so's the entertainment (bring out the TVs, watch the Lion's game in the park). Then vote on who's got the best grill:D

Both actives sound good. Paintball is a blast. can be real fun. "Meatfest" sounds good too, but it is to bad you had to ruin it with the Lion's game. By the time the Loins get to the Super Bowl I will be living in a nursing home.

$15 coversd field time, $20 covers 1,000 rds of paint, $5 covers gun rental. Nothing I can do about field time cost, I get the paint really cheap, and the $5 for gun rental goes to the business so I get get more equipment, take more kids.

Ah. More paint. That explains the cost difference. In that case, your deal may indeed be a bit cheaper than here; at any rate your paint seems to cost less per ball. But I bet you don't play in the middle of winter when it's -15°C (5°F) like we can here :D

So, I'm hoping that in this thread, the singles of this board can have a discussion about anything and everything other than marriage/romance. I'll start:

If you're planning on working, what sort of career are you hoping to get into? Or if you already have a career, what is it? Lately, I've been thinking that I would really like teaching - perhaps high school science.

Who knows. I graduate next year with a double major. I'm hoping to still go into the Foreign Service for the U.S. Department, but instead of doing it now, I'll try out when I'm older. I have nixed the idea of law school because I decided recently that it's just not for me. I'm actually wondering if I want to head off to graduate school just yet. I'm thinking about it. If I do, I want to go for either Community Addictions Counseling, Marriage and Family Counseling or International Relations. Yeah, we'll see. Currently, I want to develop own art-based non-profit organization for inner city kids, so I've been working ideas off of that for awhile. I have to see how that goes. And somewhere throughout all of that, I want to continue my travelling addiction :D I love change.....ALL the time.

Yeesh, not outdoor. I'd like to try it, but it's hard to find people to go with for some reason.

Yes, outdoors :) Just tell them that the shots don't hurt as much when you're wearing thick winter clothing :)

BTW, you have to use special paintballs. :)

I figure I'll pick up a couple sets of body armor. It's hard to get girls interested in paintball. Well, it's easier to find guys, in my experience, there's just not too many girls interested in running around in the woods getting shot at. Body armor, puffy sweaters, those all help.

Really? I would be absolutely down for that. Maybe I'm just weird...
That'd be cool. My fried Krystal came with us last time, and my buddy's GF is joining us this weekend. I'm not making generalizations about women in the sport, but from wat I've seen, it's mostly dudes, and it's been harder for me to get girls to play.

Next time you're in Michigan we can set up a game or something. You know, grrrl power.

Ha. Grrrl Power...oh my gosh, that's so 1993. ;)

Yeah Michigan!! Where allllll the hype goes down.
Okay I'm just a bit too proud; but is there ever a limit? :)

Oh yeah, and for a job... right now I'm a recruiting caller for the admission department here at Hope College. We call all those crazy juniors in HS talking about student life, etc. Great kids! Job is tiring though; even though I love talking on the phone, it's exhausting.
What do I want to do? Nothing like what I'm doing now. I want to get an internship/job in media ministry, God willing... And I really want to be out in the field working with the Persecuted Church. That's my passion.

You must be talking to the wrong girls - there are plenty here that will play paintball. I even found a website on the topic http://www.womeninpaintball.com/ :D

From reading this message board, one would almost come to the conclusion that single people think about nothing but their future spouse and that everything they do is for the sole purpose of one day meeting and marrying that special person. It would seem that all of life revolves around one central purpose - marriage. As a single person, I know that there is a whole lot more to life than just waiting and preparing for marriage. And marriage or the pursuit of marriage is not the central purpose of life. Especially since lots of people don't even know if they will ever get married.

So, I'm hoping that in this thread, the singles of this board can have a discussion about anything and everything other than marriage/romance. I'll start:

I sell o-rings...how exciting is that! What would I like to do...train dogs for the disabled. I have started taking small steps. I bought a Newfie and hope she has the disposition to become a Therapy Dog. I pray that God has the same plan for my life...I've been thinking, dreaming and hoping to do this for ...oh...8-10 years!

The church I just started to attend is having/had (??) a paint ball day for the men of the church. I was itchin' to sign up! I thought I probably shouldn't, though. Men and their frail egos have a problem with a woman beating them. ;)

Did it specify men only? If so, you should suggest a wide open church paintball day so the women can get involved too :)
