They believe the Bible to be a valuable resource, but not free from error.

I can judge fruit though as that is what Jesus called us to do and I can say without doubt that anyone that disregards Gods word has a problem. And if you don't believe that then you don't even know the creator and His son Jesus Christ because if you did then it would not be possible for anyone to call right wrong or good evil and just twist Gods word into what ever you want to make of it.

No one is going to 'let' God be their judge, He WILL be their judge and that will be a shock for many who call Jesus their Lord and rationalized that the sin they continued to practice didn't matter.

I just find it interesting when people try to justify or excuse the evil that liberals do and some of your statements suggest you sympathize with their agenda. I do not judge anyone's salvation because that is solely God's authority and todays sinner might be tomorrows saint (and vice versa) but you seem to have a problem with judging what people do ... God does not.

Besides I'm a moderate christian, Both Conservatives and liberals both have issues they are wrong about and right about. Both have their own contradictions so I like to avoid the unreasonableness of both sides.

And assuming that the conservative ideology is the only way to get the "truth" and "honesty" is a pretty arrogant and ignorant statement.

And I agree witht the liberal christian that is in this thread, thank God that God is the judge of us and not you all.

I would just like to add my 2 cents worth here.


Not sharing the truth of God’s Word…is pretty much like seeing someone, standing in the middle of the street, with the mindset that….well…the cars will just have to go around me…I have every right to stand wherever I want…It makes me happy to stand here….who am I hurting by standing here….or even completely unaware they are actually standing in the middle of the street and could be hit by a truck at any moment…

…and for us…who know the danger is real and perhaps even immanent…not to say hey look…sure you can stand there if you want…but here’s the inherent danger of where you are standing right now….to say nothing would not be loving at all.

Same thing…with the mindset that there are no consequences no matter where we’re standing….

Sadly….the Liberal mindset is that you’re being all loving, gracious, merciful and compassionate because you are so accepting of the sin and rebellion in people’s lives…so much so…you’re leading these folks to a false sense of wellbeing…that it’s perfectly OK to be in sin and rebellion and there’s no need for a changed lives….God will love you just as you are. Which may be true to some extent…but that will not change the fact that there are not only temporal consequences of living lives apart from God. But more importantly…

….Holy God will have to deal righteously with those in bondage to rebellion and their sin nature…ETERNALLY…as well as

So….it is not really all that loving and compassionate to see someone in rebellion/or ignorance, standing in the middle of their sin, denying God and His Word and not doing everything you can to share the TRUTH in LOVE.

And I would add…how much to you have to hate somebody...not to share the truth of God’s Word…

And the gentleman who gave Mr Gillette the Bible…didn’t give it to him with the disclaimer…here’s some good suggestions to TRY and live by…but it’s full of errors…so good luck with that...and you don’t really have to pay attention to most of it…but here ya go…just live your life and be happy....

The man totally understood the transforming power in the TRUTH in God’s word.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Heb 4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.


And what’s even more outstanding is Mr Gillette…seems to have a better grasp of the importance of sharing God’s Word…than sadly…many “Christians”

If by conservative Christian you mean obeying manmade religious rules, I am NOT a conservative Christian. If by conservative Christian you mean adhering to the commonly accepted standards of behavior established by the prevailing religious culture, I am NOT a conservative Christian.

Think about it...........How much of what we consider acceptable within the conservative Christian culture is based on human religious standards and how much is based on true Scriptural standards?

I've been a part of the conservative Christian community for over 30 years and I'm realizing that a lot of what we adhere to in conservative circles is based on human religious and cultural standards. And even worse, when other Christians fail to meet our standards, we judge them and often gloat in our own false sense of spiritual superiority.

Yep you're right that went right over my head. Sorry I didn't see it as funny. Guess I'm just too serious. Oh well maybe someone else thought it funny.

I don't adhere to a conservative ideology. I adhere to the truth of Jesus Christ, period. That is the truth and apparently many who say they are conservative Christians adhere to the same truth, from what I can see. So I tend to hang in the area but I don't even know what conservative ideology is and I don't care. What I care about is doing Gods will and being true to Him, His word, and His son our savior. So the issue of replacing Gods word with ones own or changing His statements of truth to suite ones own desires fly in the face of God. Therefore, all things considered, I must stand in the face of these lies because they throw Gods truth in the trash can and replace it with mans lies. I don't see a joke in that and if someone chooses to joke about it I'm sorry but that is lost on me. Everyone may quibble about this persons rules for this or that persons rules for that but there is only one statement of truth that I take heed of and that is Gods word. So go ahead and split the hairs of man I'll let you have all of that you like but there is no hair splitting when it comes to Gods word.

Also I will point out that what determines "who" is a Christian is a confession and Faith in Jesus, not a "political stand" on various issues of the law, character or behavior, as each of us [regardless of "label"] has our own sins to overcome and we ALL have them.

Additionally I will remind you that a sin is a sin is a sin, and if you commit "the smallest" [sin] you are guilty of them all. So while a "Liberal" may endorse the legalization of drugs, promote abortion or agree with "same sex marriage"; a Conservative may cheat on their taxes, cheat on their wife or be a drunk.

All sinners folks, and while it is true that "Conservatives" [like me] tend to not commit many of "the bigger sins" which are more "public" and considered more "sinful" [by man], Liberals "appear" to do the opposite.

GOD does not see things as we do and ALL of us, regardless of our "label" are sinners and unworthy to judge the "other side". Sure, we [Conservatives] should fight to defend that which is Holy and give ourselves to the serving of the cause of Christ, but while we may feel "superior", better or "more Christian" than "Liberals" we should not be so arrogant to actually believe that we are the only "true Christians", as we are not.

No. There are more than two groups of Christians last time I checked. It's not an either/or. Some, like me, are very conservative in some areas and more liberal in others.

People are not like computers...either a 1 or a 0.

To me, both sides of the spectrum are rather unfavorable sense both sides only seem to be right about half the issues and then they have their own contradictions and it just gets unbearable.

Good one. I've witnessed right here in this conservative forum the exact type of infighting you refer to. It's sad to watch.

Excellent point about using worldly political labels for people of faith. We really need to stop referring to ourselves as "conservative christians" or "liberal christians" as it is counter productive. Can anyone show me in the Bible the words "conservative" or "liberal"?
