I have an older book called Methuselahs Secret. Good reading. It's based on a theory that the earth used to be covered in an ice canopy - lending to the long lives of the men of old. They give some scripture to back up their theory saying that there is no mention of rain before the flood among other things. Their theory is that this enormous ice canopy melted, raining down on mankind, flooding the earth and opening us up to the UV rays of the sun and shortening our lifespans.

the problem you have there, is where did all the water go, and why did the ice never melt before then, and a number of other things. without UV, the insects would never have been able to see where they were going to pollinate plants and so on.Furthermore, if I live in a cave, I should be able to live to about a thosand years old. then there is the fact that a global flood has been falsified anyway... still, this is science orum stuff so I won't carry it on here

There's no way I can get into the whole book here They do give scenarios for all the questions you asked. You'll have a hard time finding the book I'm afraid. This was published in the early 80's. My mother kept it for me all this time and I recently got it back.

It's written by Arthur Edwin Brown. Last printing was 1986.
