CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Okay, but what if it is required to get ugly before it can get fixed first? So many emotions and I am guilty myself. Can we try a cool down before a shut down if it comes down to it?

hmm, dude it is cause liberals are so much smarter then us, they know we want to hear what they have to say on EVERYTHING...
I notice some people want real fellowship and some come here just to "stir the pot"
some of the people, like Rick, seem to be good and active participants in CC, he is "stiring the pot" a little but that is not always a bad thing and he sticks around, other people seem to have a hit and run style of "why do you do this" veiled insult and then never stick around for an answer or argues with answer (we get that a lot in OBOB)

See there? Why is it that you can call people naive and that is "speaking the truth", but when I called out militancy, I was flaming the whole forum?
This is what I was talking about when I started this OP. You cannot call us naive. You do not know what is in our hearts. You do not know what God is leading us to do. That is just not right and it is just not fair.

Lisa, please understand that we've had easily 100 reports in the last week, and things are still very, very highly charged.
If we have to close it we can do it temporarily if you'd prefer, but I really do agree with Karen, that we need to put the focus back on God and take it away from us, cos at some point, we're just poking at a wound instead of letting it heal.
But, I do understand what you're saying, and I really do pray it works out

I have seen something of naiete but not from Lisa
to tell the truth I kind of stayed out of most of the fighting here, I am Catholic and never really feel at home in sub-forums besides OBOB, this is the only other one I participate in a friendly way and I love you guys but when the fighting came up I just kind of ducked out,
