• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

See in 05 I tried to commit suicide. Didn't happen. Was humble thru dreams and visions by God. He chose me I didn't choose Him. He waited patiently for His prodigal son. I came to Him and said I want to be a part of your Word thats how much I want to know you. Lets give God the glory today and when we are with Him it will be forever and forever.!

Dabro,

Glad to know of your testimony. I too have battled suicidal thoughts in the past. I am not sure what the eternal destiny is for those who do that and I don't want to try and find out. But I have definately had those thoughts while dealing with this disorder. I have realized the best thing I can do, is live out my life the best way I can giving glory to God, and putting my faith in the Word of God when it says things like Romans 8:1 "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Jesus Christ." And in 1 John 4:16 where it says God is love, and then in 1 Corinthians 13:5, that love keeps no record of wrongs. I have decided to just do my best, despite the OCD, and for my life to end not by suicide but naturally whenever the Lord is ready to take me, and let Him judge me. I do know He will do what is right, that He is love, and that He knows I want to be with Him forever.

I was listening to Phil Wickham's song "I will always love you" earlier tonight. The following lyrics struck a chord with me "Hallelujah, the battle is won, let the Church bells ring." It just made me think about how much pain we can experience in life, and discouragement and brokenness we can experience while in this world. The lyrics were a reminder that God has won the battle ultimately; good wins over evil in the end, and it is God and goodness that will reign forever. If we are with God, we can take comfort in the fact that the battle has been won; and we will be with Him forever. Jesus told us in this world we will have trouble, but to take heart because He has overcome the world. If Jesus is our righteousness, we have overcome the world too. It's just a matter of waiting till our bodies are completely healed of earthly afflictions when we go to Heaven. Meanwhile, we have all spiritual blessings in Christ (His Word, His Love, His encouragement, hope, and His promises - and He can be trusted to give us truth.)

What you shared also reminded me of the Scripture:
John 6:37 "All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away."

Glad that you are using this forum Dabro, these forums have given me much comfort and help.

Thank you for sharing the encouragement with all of us here.

God bless you.
