Here's another thread created for ice-breaking purposes, and simply to have a little bit of fun.

We all know that there are animals that represent the two main political parties - elephants for Republicans and donkeys for Democrats. Well, supposing some of the OTHER parties had an animal symbol.... what would they be, and for what reason? Just sit back, relax, and set your imagination free....

For starters, I think Independents should have the symbol of a cat, as we know the nature of a normal cat is, of course, independent (I should know, I have one).

My parents always joked that the Reform Party (especially during Perot's runs) would have been an ostrich with its head in the sand, but I was too young to know the exact reasons for that comparison.

I can imagine that Socialist and Communist parties probably would associate with bears. There seems to be a lot of bear-like imagery in them already, particularly when talking of the more European implementations of them, whether currently or historically.

I do think that if this country ever prominently establishes another Progressive Party, they should bring back the moose mascot, harkening back to Teddy Roosevelt's Bull Moose Party. Or at the very least, something like an elk, considering people may not consider a moose to be elegant enough.

The Libertarian Party uses the Statue of Liberty as their symbol... but if it had to be an animal, it'd probably be an eagle. We might have to fight the Constitution Party for it though.
That might be worth seeing. LP vs CP in a PPV Smackdown. Winner gets the eagle, loser eats crow.:D

Just take a look at CF's Green Party symbol the next time you get a chance -- its shape is somewhat akin to a turtle!!

Actually, I think any green animal (like a turtle, frog, or grasshopper) might work for the Green Party.
I would say a frog. Because it's not easy being Green. ^_^
