  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Let it snow, let it snow...

I like snow until April, then I am ready for it to be gone. However, that usually isn't the case around here. It usually snows again here in April, just when I have got Spring Fever....... But I do like the first snowfall of the season. Shouldn't be long now!

We don't get snow in Australia. I mean, we do... but in July and its always like the tiniest bit... and its in Canberra! Thats like, 10 hours from where I live. I've only ever seen snow once in my life and it was when I was 11... The coldest I've ever been in is probably -5 degrees?? Thats middle of winter and the hottest I've been in is probaly around the 49 degrees mark... Right now, its 38 degress and its only Spring... not even Summer yet! Its quite dry out here though, because we are in a drough... but I love normal Aussie Summers! :) Yay, go Aussie Summers!!

woohoo!!!! S.D. in the hooooooooooouse!!!!!!.. dude, Mammoth opened weeks ago.. this season's gonna be good! finally!!!!!
yeah, this season's supposed to be good at bear mtn, but it's still too early to tell. when i went the snow was pretty slushy later in the day and there were only two runs open. i'm going up to northern cali this weekend and i'm gonna snowboard with my brother-in-law at some mountains near modesto. hopefully it'll be pretty good.

speaking of which, i remember when i was in kindergarten and it snowed here in san diego. pretty much everyone who's lived here their whole lives remember it. i don't know if it really was considered snow since it melted as soon as it touched the ground, but i thought it was pretty sweet...

So the laws of physics work differently in California.... that makes a curious kind of sense...
come on...everyone knows that this is true...cali's awesome...

Yeah, on New Years day '04... I was at the beach and it was 49 degrees and I ended up with 2nd degree sunburn and in hospital on drugs to make me sleep, I blisted on the first day and peeled then healed, peeled then healed again and now I'm dark as, compared to my usual fair skin, blonde hair... I hated that!! But nights are fantastic here! Summer nights (january especially) you can sit outside all night and be comfy! I love Australian Christmas Holidays! (December 17th (round about) Febuary 1st (round about) Its awesome!!!!!

This is like a totally dumb question. How do you celebrate the holidays?? Hitting the beach sounds awesome, even spend the night outside sounds great. But I think I would miss snow if didn't have it in Dec.

In my holiday break, in January (thats summer) we go to the beach, have BBQ's, have picnics, go bushwalking, go on holidays like to Queensland and Perth etc... We try to avoid places like the Northern Territory cos it gets super super hot out in the desert! Um... we do heaps in our holidays.

I'll share with you my plan for this holiday coming up...
Christmas Eve I go to a church around the corner from my house and sing christmas carols at about 5pm (its still light then) then we have church friends over afterwards and when its dark we get out some candles, sit around in the dark and read the gospels outside by candle light... :) thats beautiful... then we pray. Then at 11pm we have a service called watchnight at my church and that goes until 1am usually... Christmas Day we sit outside (or inside if its way too hot) and eat seafood and salad... santa comes (my family arn't christians) and we exchange presents. On Boxing Day my family goes to a river near us and has a picnic lunch. Nothing usually happens until New Years Eve when we all party on at a friends house or in Sydney... New Years Day, we go to the beach usually and chill out.... Then from the 2nd - 8th January I am volunteering at a Christian Camp over here called Teen Ranch. I do that all the time. I'm going to a beach wedding on the 9th... ummm going to a camp for leadership training from the 15th-21st jan... thats up in the blue mountains... just near me... ummmm going to the beach for a weekend with some friends of mine... and I haven't really got anything else planned... :)

Sorry if I rambled on for a bit, but now you tell me... whats it like to have a white christmas? and whats with thanksgiving (whats it all about) tell me all about your holidays!! :)
Sarah... xoxo :)

Hey you seem to be a very, very busy person so it is ok to rant and rave. Doesn't bother me a bit! Happy Holidays!
