I don't know but my friend Mandie has the French cast recording. It's crazy. What recordings do you guys have? I have the hilights and the Full Symphonic Recording. Great stuff. Especially in the Complete when Jean Val Jean sounds like he's whining "They are the guilty... everyone." Soo funny.
Shame I must sound like an idiot but oh well :-D

lol. nope not an idiot... just like another fanatic! :) ive heard Le Grand Jour from the French.. its cool! :)

I have the Complete Symphonic Recording, and the DVD of the 10th Anniversary Concert. I love it during the start of Javerts Suicide, when Philip Quast booms out his lines... very imtimidating. Definately one of the greatest Javerts in the world.

was that the one that was recorded from the Paris Cast??
Um...let's see what I can tell you about it...
It's the Les Mis Original French Concept Album. It's all in French...songs are in different order/arrangements than what we know of now....because this was with a musical arranger prior to Cameron Mackintosh...but all the songs are pretty familiar sounding...as in not far off from the CM versions we know now
Liner notes say "This recording became the first version of the stage show in Paris."

I believe this was recorded sometime around 1980.

oh you kids all half my age.....I remember falling in love with Les Miserables, Cats, Evita, Phantom, Miss Saigon etc when I was about your ages (16-18 years old). I still love all those shows to this day. I've collected quite a few of the cast albums too. When it comes to Les Mis I have:
The Original French Concept album (the old 1980 version of the show)
The Paris cast (the present version of the show, in French)
The Vienna Cast (present version, in German)
The 10th Anniversary concert version
The Complete symphonic album (international cast)
Original London cast album
Original Broadway cast album

Seen the show in Washington DC 3 times on tour, in London and New York.

So, have any of you actually read the book--Les Miserables by Victor Hugo? If you haven't, and love the show, I'd recommend you read the book. It fills in some of the gaps left in the show and gives a lot more character detail.
