  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Legitimate Political Discourse? Really?

That is a uniquely honest confession

Whoa you really misunderstood me,

Do you think you understand the following more than Mitt Romney does.

"I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength "

How would I know what Mitt Romney knows or does not know?

So Romney could have a mistaken belief that Trump is very corrupt which is unfortunate because this belief has cost him a lot politically ?
Romney certainly could be mistaken, he has been mistaken before and he will likely be mistaken again, I made a mistake once, I voted for Romney.

so now the inference GAME. your article does not indicate that the committee had any problem what so ever with Chris Miller, Do you have a problem with Chris Miller or are you just throwing mud?

I'm not throwing mud -- Miller has publicly stated that 1. there was a known plot to cause trouble at the Capitol that day, and 2. Donald egged on the crowd, knowing that there was a plot.

I can't see why the Committee would have a problem hearing that... under oath, this time.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) strode speedily away from ABC News congressional correspondent Rachel Scott when she asked about the resolution describing the rioting on January 6 as “legitimate political discourse,” telling her it was “not good” to answer questions in hallways. (Comedian Noel Casler tweeted that McCarthy “ran down that hall like he was being chased by a bunch of white dudes looking for some ‘legitimate political discourse.’”)

That was funny to see. Mccarthy looked like he was training for the next Olympics.
Or at least the next insurrection.

Perhaps it is a sign that I've seen too many videos from inside the Capitol on 1/6/21, but when I first saw the clip with the fast(ish) movement and jagged camera work, I thought it was (for a second) a new video released by the DOJ as part of one of their cases. It was not.

Mitch McConnell has seen the light. This is the Republican Senate leader. I can't say I've agreed with everything he's ever said or done. But now he's 100% right on the money.

Spotlighting a widening breach among Republicans, Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell criticized the Republican National Committee on Tuesday for censuring Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, and for suggesting that the Jan. 6 insurrection was "legitimate political discourse."

“It was a violent insurrection for the purpose of trying to prevent a peaceful transfer of power after a legitimately certified election from one administration to the next," McConnell told reporters. "That’s what it was."

Mitch McConnell calls Jan. 6 a 'violent insurrection,' hits Republicans for censure of Cheney, Kinzinger

There is none so blind as he who will not see. That's seems to be a sickness now infesting the Republican Party.

...right on cue: (DT statement from today)

“Mitch McConnell does not speak for the Republican Party, and does not represent the views of the vast majority of its voters,” Trump said in a statement issued through his Save America PAC. “He did nothing to fight for his constituents and stop the most fraudulent election in American history.”

I quoted this exact article elsewhere -- while noting that it's no secret that Donald wants McConnell ousted and replaced with a more consistent bootlicker.

Yeah, it's no surprise that Trump would say that. He's a pathological narcissist and cannot tolerate criticism. But as of now, Mitch is the highest ranking Republican in government. His word has monumentally more authority than Donald Trump's. Who is a thoroughly disgraced has-been.

that there was a threat was not a secret both the FBI and NYPD had made that information available prior to the incident. Regarding any involvement by Trump that has yet to be proven.

Which means everything Donald said and did that day must be seen in the light of the fact that he knew a plot was brewing.

Regarding any involvement by Trump that has yet to be proven.

Which makes the GOP's vitriolic opposition to the committee's very existence very problematic -- not to mention those members of Donald's inner circle who have already answered every question asked by it with "Fifth Amendment."

As it has already been explained in this thread, this is not an investigation, it is a political attempt to ensure that Trump will not run again for president.

The explanation was unconvincing -- unless all those "Fifth Amendment"s are part of the scheme.
