I really enjoyed the LBB books, also. I didn't care for the movie, though.

I will watch the TV show, but if it is as bad as the movie was (MHO), I probably won't continue watching the show <><

Here's one article on a Christian web site called "Afterlife..." that made me CHANGE MY VIEW on the RAPTURE and made me stop believing in the Pre-Trib speculation!! Even I myself have seen the "Left Behind" movie (w/Kirk Cameron) that is kind of like the rapture movie "A Thief In The Night" (made in the 70's that I thought was particularly cheesy). So my view changed, and why so??? This might suprise you.. so read on (here is just a part of that article from the beginning)

The Rapture

"For a long time I had heard that there will be a "rapture" in which Christians would be wisked up into the sky by Jesus, Do I believe it will happen? Yes, absolutely! The bible says it will happen. But how will it happen?
What the bible "really" says may surprise you!

According to popular teaching, this is supposed to occur before the seven years of tribulation. The LEFT BEHIND book series and movie is based upon the end times and the rapture, and that is how the rapture is presented in the book. They assert that some people will be wisked up. Only their clothing would be left. Otherd would be left behind to endure the tribulation.

Although this view is held by allot of people, I decided that I should find out FOR MYSELF exactly what the bible says on the subject. I would clear my mind of all the things I had heard and find out JUST WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS.

So I read the book of Revelations, and then I read the scriptures about the "catching up" of the saints. The problem is that I never found anything about it occuring in secret, or before some 7 year tribulation. I read Revelations again. THEN AGAIN. No, I could not find anything to support that teaching. However, it seemed to me THAT SCRIPTURES ARE INDEED VERY CLEAR ABOUT THE RAPTURE. It will not happen in "secret" either. No, the rapture will occure on the day of the second coming of Jesus. It is the big day! Everyone will see Jesus in the sky and every eye will see it! Yes, it is the Day Of Judgement! There is one scripture that I hope you remember from this study because it PROVES that the rapture will occur on the DAY OF THE RESURRECTION!

[1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17]
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a SHOUT, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of Gpd: and the DEAD IN CHRIST SHALL RISE FIRST: Then we which are alive and remain shall be CAUGHT UP TOGETHER with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.

The Last Day

*Jesus returns in the Sky with a Shout
*The Last Trump will Sound
*The Dead in Christ will rise firsr and Join Christ in the Sky
*The Living in Christ will be Caught up in the Sky (Raptured)

Around the middle an article is inserted by another author saying, "But the truth is that THE BIBLE NOWHERE SPEAKS OF THESE TWO SEPARATE COMINGS OF JESUS."

..and so on and so on...

then it says, "Now here is what we find in the Scriptures: Christ's coming, the resurrection, and catching up of the saints to meet Jesus in the air, all take place at the same time, at the END of the world. This is why Jesus said, "Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the END OF THE WORLD." MAT 28:20. Now why would Jesus promise to be with the church until the end of the world if He intended to come seven years before the end to take them out of the world? The promise would have no meaning.

WILL IT BE A SECRET?

The secret rapture doctrine contradicts the words of Christ in Matthew chapter 13 when he said that the WHEAT AND TARES WOULD GROW TOGETHER UNTIL THE "END OF THE WORLD" and then would be separated. According to the 2-stage teaching of His coming, both groups would not grow together until the end of the world...And what about the promise of the resurrection? Christ said, concerning the righteous, "And I will raise him up at the last day." JOHN 6:40. No one denies that this means the last day of the world. Yet Paul declares that the saints are caught up to meet the Lord AT THE SAME TIME THE DEAD IN CHRIST ARE RAISED."

hey, i love those books. And i love the movie. I havn't heard anybody put the series down either(and i don't know why they would, they are great!). One day they will wish they understood the series and the Lord. They will see when their brothers, sisters, and sons and daughters and wifes start dissapearing.

i personally believe in post trib rapture, but the books are a good reminder to either believers and non believers, that the Lord is coming back very soon.

I have read the first 3 books in the series and i am so amazed that the characters came to know God so soon after the Rapture.
I have really enjoyed the books so far, and am looking forward to getting the next few in the series.
I am kinda surprised how much i understood what they were saying about Revelations. I have read it many times with the help of a commentary and it makes it more understandable.
The story line is very touching too, As people who Knew each other casually, become closer and become brothers and sisters in Christ.

Final thought: I am going thru withdrawls since i don't have my next book in the series.

Although I think the books are a great outreach product, I do think that the hype and commercialism of them has overcome their benefits. There are so many good christian books that can't get attention because they are not Left Behind books, and although I have shared them with many, many unsaved friends, not one of them got saved because of them. They are excited about them while they are reading, but the excitement doesn't really flow over into reading the actual word of God.

The gospel message has been Left Behind in the five most recent books, and God is hardly mentioned at all anymore. It's like only the works of the people matter. Because of this criticism, the authors threw in a gratuitous and silly vocalization from "God" that is superfluous to the story and does not induce one to worship or even admire God.

I think the secondary products, like keychains, calendars, Bible covers and other gheegaws, are so much flotsam sold to make more money off the idea. I wonder what God thinks about the Left Behind nightlights or the Left Behind pen-and-pencil sets? I wish it was all about God, and not all about Jerry and Tim.

People, your deluded comments evidence why the deluded church has bought 40 million copies of this stuff. Even the authors admit that it is all fiction. But, that doesn't matter and they know it. Even the church gobbles it up as gospel. Why? Ignorance! 85% of the church does not read the bible. They get their doctrine from men who find the so-called Christian book stores a very lucrative outlet for sensationalism, or from pastors who must recite the dogma of their respective seminaries or lose their jobs.

This nonsense is one of the all time big hoaxes, big misleadings, with a big price tag.
The only truth to this left behind fairy tale is that the TRUTH is missing. However, obviously, today the church prefers fairy tales for itching ears, rather than truth. Even the pollsters tell us that when they do polls concerning family values, what people read,watch on TV/movies, what they let their kids watch/read/do, they find almost no difference in the results. Only one in four even bother to vote. Any wonder why our government, schools, courts are in the sewer?

I don't pray "God bless America" but, rather, "Lord, wake up the church"

I believe there is really bad theology in those books, plus bad writing. It's almost like it's a cartoonish view of Christianity, with one-dimensional characters. I do not believe in the Rapture as it is portrayed in those stories. It seems too much like a scare tactic. I don't think this is honoring to God. I stopped reading these books a couple of years ago.

I didn't take the time to read these 55 posts, but I am assuming that there are pros and cons to the series. I read the Left Behind series myself. Even though the books did not go along with what I personally believe as far as the pre-trib rapture, I found the books interesting and entertaining.

I have talked to people that had strayed away from the Lord, or who were not saved at all, who had read these books, and it brought them to repentance. Even though I had to chuckle when I read the part where the AC brain washed the people in the board room, and he shot the guy, the books kept my attention. I believe that any book, movie etc. that uplifts Christ, and is not to far off the beaten path, are fine with me. Is any of our Eschotology the same? Christ is the focal point in these books, and the unsaved missing His coming, no matter when we believe it is going to happen. Salvation is the most important thing. .

You are absolutely correct!!! I am happy that there are others that see the truth of this, and do not think that they are going to escape the AC being revealed first. I believe that the "great falling away" has started, and Apostacy is in the near future.

So Typical... nonpretribbers showing this attitude toward those who are pretrib. Questioning their faith, accusing them of listening to demons, attacking them as only seeing scripture through emotional lens. It's so pathetic that folks do this.

One of the reasons I was open to the pretrib view in the first place, after a few decades as post, was the attitude, the false accusations, and nastiness of posttribbers about those that see the pretrib view in scripture. Since then I have been referred to as a 'child of hell' and more from posttribbers. It is such a BAD Christian example!
