  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

i would like to relearn linear eqautions. my short term memory is rubbish and i cant follow sequaences well.My attention is quite poor.

when i can do maths i find that i really enjoy it and the problem solving, but the above problems let me down. I have decided to start relearning maths. when i was younger somebody showed me how to do linear eqautions (i enjoyed once i knew how but that went quickly and i forgot) and im starting to learn we need a little bit of maths to do my course. also i will be studying chemistry equations. I have a great love for physics that can go only so far because of maths.

So can anyone recomend sites (priority) or books to help people like me? as the standard books dont help. Also because im dyslexic i cant follow long and drawn out text - i need basic preferbly NOT in a times new roman type of font!

Anyone have any ideas of ways i can remember equations and mathematical processes and store them in my long term memory - for when i need them? it would be great for feild work and when i do stats.

thanks for any help :) i have been formally diagnosed with dyslexia.

Maths is a barrel of fun, isn't it?

Have you tried typing out equations etc on Microsoft Word using large fonts? Print them out once you've typed them and stick them up on your bedroom wall or somewhere where its visible. Everymorning you get up just have a look at them and keep revising!!! The key is to not give up on revision even when it gets a bit boring!

I'd done several college courses in linear alegbra. So I can probably help. I think of things mostly using pictures and spacially instead of words and equations so maybe that would be better for you. Or maybe not.:)

I wish you could use more pictures in math. its getting math materials for dyslexics. im too old now to get tutored for math and unfortunatly my part of the uni does not do much higher level math. i wish theyd do a math free elective, but seems they wont (they do it on the other campus about 40-50 miles away  )

i tell you a little bit more of a reason why i wanna do this. it may not seem like much to others - but after uni at some point (maybe a year after?) i would like to retry A-level maths again and pass it. for me this would be an acheivement!
