I am Oriental Orthodox, not Eastern Orthodox. That is not my circus; these are not my monkeys.

He was exiled by Arians and Semi-Arians, or under the pressure of the same put upon various emperors. Again, if that's your lot, go ahead and be with them (I've been saying for years now that Mormonism essentially embraces Arianism in all but the explicitness of its denial of the truth), but I'm not going to doubt who won out in every case. HH is a saint in all of Christianity, and even if he weren't his record of standing for truth in the face of error speaks for itself. The empire doesn't decide what is true and what is not. HH St. Athanasius was "contra mundum" for a reason: the world was wrong, as it was in the grip of the Arian heresy.
There was a reason the Arians believed as they did.

Incidentally, Arius popularized his view with a jingle: "There was a time when the Son was Not" ... Similar to Eliza Snow's "Oh My Father" propagating the Heavenly Parents / Heavenly Mother heresy.

I will.

Gal. 1:6-9 {Moroni delivered gospel}

I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!

Any time there is a controversy, one should always try to go to the original language. Then it needs to also correspond to the character of God. The object is to discern the mind of God, to make sure what is believed is what God meant. You go to JS to discern his mind. You go to a dabbler in magic, treasure hunter, teacher of false doctrines who had dreams of being the President of this country to fulfill his lust for power. You do not go to Jesus. We go to where Jesus went--the scriptures. "It is written."
What do you think is better. Go to a "specialist" in ancient languages to try to determine what God meant. And correspond to the character of God so as to discern the mind of God? How has that worked out for the 3,000 different Christian churches, all preaching different doctrines about the gospel because they all have their ancient languages "specialists"?

Compare that to having Jesus Christ tell you personally what he meant. Quite a difference.

Show your love of Jesus Christ by keeping the commandments.

How does this address the fact that the Arians were deceived by the devil?

We are commanded in the scriptures not to have fellowship with demons (1 Corinthians 10:20), so fleeing from heresy and blasphemy (Arianism, Mormonism, etc.) is keeping the commandments.

Considering that the latter did not happen, whereas ancient language specialists actually exist (unlike 'Reformed Egyptian'), I would go with the ancient language specialist.

Gal. 1:6-9 only applies to those who preach a different gospel. We preach the gospel of Jesus Christ which is to strive to keep the commandments so we can become perfect like God the Father. Sadly some people do not place much importance in keeping the commandments.

First you have to prove that the Arians were deceived. Please use the Bible and and not your man made creed.

It's rather ironic that the LDS religion considers itself to be so pro-family and purports to believe that family is so important that they would want to be together for eternity.

The fact is that the LDS religion does not consider family important at all. They only consider family who are "worthy" (in their religion's eyes) to be important. All other family is not important.

The LDS Temple wedding is the proof of this. No family member is permitted to attend a temple wedding unless he or she has been vetted and approved as "worthy" by the men of the religion. How can such a religion claim to be pro-family when they routinely and proudly exclude blood related family members from a wedding? How can you say you're pro-family and tell the very PARENTS who raised their children that they are NOT PERMITTED to attend those children's weddings?

Ah, back to the thread topic.

First find the original manuscript and while you are at it send me a copy of the book of the covenant mentioned in these scriptures:

(Old Testament | 2 Kings 23:2 - 3)

2 And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.
3 ¶ And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

First you have to prove that the Arians were deceived. Please use the Bible and and not your man made creed.

You can argue for the Arians all you want. For Christianity, this is settled, and doesn't really need to be argued about. Proving that the Arians were deceived is like "proving" that water is wet or that the sky is blue: everyone with senses understands these things, but those who have some kind of major impairment may not.

Quit trying to boss people around in this thread. "First you'd have to do this!" "First do this!"

It's not my job or anyone's job to provide backing for the soul-destroying doctrines of your anti-Christ religion.

You wanna believe in Mormonism? You support it.
