i hope i'm not opening a can of worms here, but what's with the anglicans coming into this sub-forum and stirring stuff up? sheesh!
Stirring things up?
I just asked a question. I'm sorry if that makes you feel threatened, but I assure you that I don't mean to stir things- I know DaRev is up to answering at the level I would need. He knows the drill.
Who I pray with is between me and my Lord. I don't appreciate your statement.
Glad there is someone here at your level - sorry the rest of us are so lowly.
I agree 100%. But I have to admit the first thing that went though my mind when I read that is "Yeah, but who is she allowed to pray with?"
Funny old world, eh?

???
No sense of irony/humour? I found humour in your comment.
FYI- I used to belong to an Orthodox Lutheran Church that pretty much controlled its members regarding prayer fellowship (and other things). If someone prayed with someone from another Lutheran church, they were seen to be as engaging in unionism, and this was de facto considered sinful.
I knew two guys- both from strict Lutheran churches, from different congregations/denominations, who were best friends and life-long neighbours. They went on long camping trips together, and every night they would have to retire to different parts of the camps to pray- and they used the same prayers!
With that in mind, I found your comment amusing. I honestly thought you would see it too- hence the smileys. I don't think it's a sin to find humour in life or one's religion.
um - i don't feel threatened, why on earth would this make me feel threatened? the comment i made was referring to the top quote here, not the question you asked before that statement....that particular statement was not necessary, and i can see how it would and could be something that could hurt someone's feelings....
i mentioned it, because there was another thread in here where another person with an anglican icon came in and was quite rude and insulting - it appeared that that particular comment was aimed in the same direction....
and i apologize for the rest of us apparently not being at "your level"....
When it's funny, I agree. It's just that in two separate threads this week we have had people from the Anglican forum come into the conservative Lutheran forum to poke at us. Guess I don't get that.
Guess when you have a question, you should start your own thread and ask for only Rev's advice.
contra - i'm sorry....i truly am....i'm feeling a little defensive this morning, and i shouldn't be; i guess i'm taking it out on you, and that isn't right, i shouldn't do that....please accept my apology, and i do hope you have a blessed day....
No probs!Very true - sorry I was cranky.

I would feel perfectly fine if I had to attend a WELS church for instance. An ELCA one I wouldn't step foot through the door.
I just wonder why we can't be in communal fellowship though (LCMS with WELS).
LCMS & WELS used to be in full fellowship up till the early fifties. The trouble started in the mid thirties when LCMS declaired full fellowship with the ALC (one of the Synods who would be a main player in the E*CA decades later). This was intolerable for WELS. It took over fifteen years for them to sever ties with LCMS, and in the early fifties they did.
Well I do have to say I know firsthand of the inconsistencies in LCMS congregations.
I'm commenting on Stude's post.
