  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Much like actual information, or even pictures in this thread, one cannot find an LCA in combat service, and likely won't until 2010 according to most sources, despite over 25 years of development.

Going from 2nd generation to 4.5 isn't bad for 27 years :p The U.S. took almost 60+

How did it take the US 60+? Our first 4.5 generation jet fighter, the F-15E, was first pressed into service in 1986. Our first 2nd generation fighter was the F-100 Super Sabre, first in service in 1954. That's 32 years, not 60+, and the US did it on its own, not needing to go to foreigners for systems we were incapable of making ourselves, unlike India in the LCA program. Like I asked in another thread, do you actually research your statements before posting, or do you deliberately post things that are blatantly wrong to get a rise out of people? It's getting really hard to tell.

If you factor in engines and radar, India is still incapable of making a 4th generation fighter on its own. And if you look at the first link in this post, you'll see that the LCA is NOT a 4.5 generation fighter.

So why did you create a thread in which the first three posts contain nothing at all?

I overexxagerated with 60 so you wouldn't sugar coat the real figure :p

Regardless still slower than a "poor third world country" like India.

The fact that you are comparing the most developed nation to supposedly the poorest nation bring down the over confidence?

Indian training surprises US
Maj. Mark A. Snowden, the 3rd Wing's chief of air-to-air tactics and a participant in Cope India 2004, admitted that the US Air Force underestimated the Indians. "The outcome of the [2004] exercise boils down to [the fact that] they ran tactics that were more advanced than we expected," he told Aviation Week last year. "They had done some training with the French that we knew about, but we did not expect them to be a very well-trained air force. That was silly."
One USAF controller working aboard an AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) plane told reporters at Kalaikundi Air Base that he was impressed by the speed in which Indian pilots responded to target assignments given them by AWACS. The AWACS, while operated by Americans, was acting as a neutral party, feeding target assignments to both Indian and American pilots during the exercise. In most cases, the Indians responded to target assignments faster than the American pilots did - a surprising fact, given that this was the first time Indian pilots had used the American AWACS capability.
Given India's growing economic and diplomatic aspirations, it's not surprising that many Indians would have the occasional outburst of jingoism. But Indian pilots know they still have a lot to learn.
"Whether the Indians win or lose is crew room gossip," says Mr. Patney. "The important thing is for us to be involved with the Americans; the purpose is to fly alongside each other, to learn from each other, to see if there is any interoperability. And for the Americans, the main thing is to see what we [Indians] can do with limited resources."

In other words, you didn't even read my post. How do you compare the development of US aircraft, where everything was made in house and newly developed, to India, where the most complicated equipment was imported and every technology inside the plane had already been developed by someone else? You can't. If you want to ignore that fact, and this post and post more unsourced lies, then go right on ahead. However this will be the last time I take your bait.

So could a mod close this thread as well? It doesn't even have an OP...

Haven't seen this much low self-esteem and hatred towards US in my life... what the heck is LCA anyway? Didn't even cross my attention while countries like South Korea is progressing real well with T-50...

I agree. all I see in the first 4 posts are boxes with red "x"s in them - no pictures, no text, no links, nada - but am getting the impression of someone maybe trying to pick a fight. I can appreciate one's pride in his/her country's military some folks can just get too carried away and forget this isnt a debate forum but a support forum.

I read this thread over several times and am wondering where the OP thinks India is being referred to as "poor third world country" (his quotes) when no one other than the OP himself has said it. And the reason for saying it with quotes?

It's a long story, he likes to point out how poor India is here and there. Check it out

So how did a great tolerant nation like India not make social reforms to feed a population nearly the size of the USA? China was worse off in 1960 than India was at Independence, but now China no longer needs international food aid, but India requires huge amounts. Why is that? If India is so tolerant, why are they embarking on a massive military buildup to threaten Pakistanis and Chinese instead of feeding over 200 million malnourished and starving people?

He has this theory about India requiring food aid.... I think he doesn't know about the 1st and 2nd green revolutions. I just like to rub it in sometimes and point out how wrong he is about India.

You are comparing South Korea and India, now that is funny. India has had the T-50 for over a decade, lol.....

I didn't compare Korea to India hi-speed! First prototype of the T-50 made its maiden flight on 20 August 2002, what decades are you talking about?

Ok I got it, you won't get your facts straight, you are here just to annoy people.

Bushmaster, justanobserver, I can't tell you what to do, but I strongly reccomend you just quit posting in this thread. The fact that he took a post from mine in an entirely different forum and posted it here is a good indicator that someone is just trying to bait us. Personally, I'm sick of playing along...

One thing I hate is feeding the trolls, and later leaving them to their fate just to find out that they start thinking they won a "debate". But ejection handle is the last resort.

theres a term for those that think they won the debate when in reality, they lost what could have been good friends and good conversation: Pyrrhic victory

It would be a debate when people have something constructive to say, not when the first comment bashes the project itself...

Give respect to get respect, is my motto:)

How do you expect respect when you reply to other people's post with uninformed, unsourced lies, and often don't respond to large portions of other people's posts despite the time they take to respond to you? The good folks of the military forum of CF, including myself, have been respecting your point of view and discussing it for you for some time now, and you've engaged in a whole range of disrespectful behaviors in response. Perhaps if you'd quit the name-calling you've used in so many threads. You say it would be a debate if someone had something constructive to say, but the fact is, the first three posts of this thread don't even contain anything, nothing at all! And in your other thread on Russia right now people did make constructive debate about Russia, but you then ignored those points to shift to an off-topic discussion about India. Where was your respect for other people's comments and the direction of the thread?

If give respect to get respect is your motto, maybe you should start following it. If you want respect, show it to others. Stop being so obnoxious, stop usings the insults I've seen from you on so many of your threads, start actually responding to other people's posts instead of posting something off-topic or that you think is pithy when you don't feel like responding. Show the people of CF geniune respect, and some actual etiquette and you will certainly receive the same in return.

The fact is Srev, I feel many people would like to have a constructive debate with you but feel they can't. If you don't feel you're not having constructive debate on this forum and that nobody respects you, maybe the best thing to do would be to leave or start some constructive debate and show some respect instead of trolling.
