It kinda unfortunate sign of the times, but a necessary one if I'm to stay in business.. The question comes in because I'm in a position to maybe get some of my laided off employees a job with current customers.. but this could back fire and mean less work for my company in the long run.. So what do you think the "christian" thing to do is?

rich,

I take it part of the scary part is that you give the impression you are in trouble and you never want anyone to know that.

But you did the right thing and think of how this employee feels about you.

If he is any kind of person he will be your spokesperson for life!

God bless and good luck!

Large corporations sometimes spin off small departments of workers that are laid off, but then support them with work orders. They probably don't take ownership, or claim intervention in the outsourcing, because that would conflict with tax codes. But workers say they hardly notice the difference. Sometimes they use the same work space and work with the same team.

Maybe you could work out a deal with this company that comes under the official approval of your company, so your company retains some control and benefit.

If the workers become self-employed, they cannot use the facilities or materials of the clients that contract for work -- but they could rent space and equipment back from you.

First, suggest that they form an independent group. Then market this group to the other company.

I got this guy a job with two separate companies, and because for what ever reason he wasn't able to stick with it, so I have given up with trying to help him. He does call me from time to time looking for work, but I really don't have enough to hire him back, So I've given him some names and numbers and kinda just left it alone.
