  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So I've been sitting here reading my Bible and playing a few video games tonight and somewhere in the midst of it all, I had a thought that I figured I'd share with you all. Lemme know it it sounds too far :: out there:: If we believe that Jesus saw the sins of mankind when He was on the cross, and that bearing those sins was just as painful as the nails in His hands, then by avoiding sin, aren't we, in some way, easing the pain that Jesus suffered on the cross.......almost retro-actively? Does that sound crazy? I think its a wonderful thought though, to know that if we stay on track, we are doing it out of love for Him, for the purpose of easing the pain He endured........Tho maybe I've watched too many stark trek episodes dealing with temporal paradoxes. What do you all think?

I think you are right on the mark!! I believe that between Jesus' death and Resurrection He personally witnessed and forgave every sin that ever was, is or was to be. And by not sinning, then yes, we retroactively have saved Him some pain. I never took it that far but it is the logical conclusion and I thank you for sharing this with me!!

No . . I don't think you are too far out there at all . .

I had an experience once at adoration . . I was praying and asking Jesus to forgive my sins, and in my mind I suddenly saw something traveling from me at a super high rate of spead as if through a tunnel and then burst out at the other end like a bullet headed right for Jesus on the cross . . it hit Him with such force as it went right into His chest that He arched His back in pain and there was anguish on His face . . All this happened in an instant . . I was stunned at what I saw . . I don't know all the theiological arguments regarding something like this, but what I saw will be with me for a long time to come . ..

Peace in Him!

IP, that's an interesting persepective, which may have some true merit. We should sin less, to have caused Jesus less pain on the cross!

St. Faustina tells us that Jesus received much consolation during His passion from those who meditated on his suffering and thanked him for it. For me, this implies that He would also be consoled by those who are repulsed by the pain our sins would cause Him and by our determination to seek His will and do it in order to minimize our personal contribution to His pain.

Diablo, C&C, etcetera...don't like RTS games...I find them boring. Making a box around a bunch of characters and telling them to build something is boring to me...but hey, that's just me.

FPS man myself. Call of Duty, Tron 2.0, Halo...I like games that pack a punch and keep you on the edge of your seat.

MMORPGs I usually go out and buy, play for a month, then get tired of the level treadmill.

SWG seems to change the tide in MMORPGs, but we'll see. Asheron's Call was a decent MMORPG because they kept the content flowing every month. AC 2 was a launch nightmare...Dark Ages of Camelot was the worst MMORPG I ever played in my life. Talk about level treadmill -- SOOOO boring!

Dark Ages of Camelot and AC2 is an example of why you don't let suits (VPs, Presidents, etcetera) rush deadlines. You end up with no content, bug ridden MMORPGs that heavily rely on content and originality to keep a player base. You don't launch expansion packs a year after your non-content, bug ridden launch.

Anyway, off soapbox (oh man, don't get me started about the world of MMORPGs...LOL)

C'mon Half Life 2...... ;)

nothing to say sorry for. I just got the new Medal of Honor game for PS2... it is very cool !
Did it just get ported to PS2? That's odd. It's nearly a year and a half old...

On the flipside, so is Halo...and it just got ported to the PC...pretty nice port I might add...(and a real system hog...nice benchmarker actually)
