((That's probably a good idea...))

Liesel was pushed back against her seat as Ryan floored the gas, speeding ahead as he tried to escape whatever he had seen. Please let it have just been a deer or something, she prayed, hoping someone was listening. But the chances it had been some wild animal seemed about as slim as the chances it had been another human.

((Well, I'm not exactly sure how we should do this to keep consistinsy through everything. I mean, usually, I have horror-ish approach to these types of scenes, but I'm not sure if that is exactly what you would want.

As for Them, would they try to stop the car...or wait until Ryan and Liesel got to the house? I keep picturing something like 30 Days of Night, but I don't think that is in the nature of this particular game.

And another thing. Do you want us to take care of the NPCs or do you want to act them out, since you know them better?))

((lol. okay fine :p))

Sierra lost all track of time while in the museum. As she looked outside through a gap in the boarded up window, she was dismayed to see that the sun had sunk lower toward the horizon than she had originally thought. I won't make it back in time... she thought as she leaned back against the wall with a sigh. She looked up after a few moments at Wylie and asked, "Hey, think I could stay here tonight? There's no way that I'll be able to get back to where I live before dark."

((Horror movie-ish is good. They want the beings inside the car because they smell the blood, the life. They might not attack the car at first, though, instead content to watch this loud thing from the shadows.

And by NPCs do you mean the creatures?))

Wylie returned suddenly from the far away place her mind had wandered. "What? Oh. Oh, yes, sure. Yeah, th-that'd be great." Dusting her hands off on her skirt, she motioned to the lantern of the floor. "Grab that and follow me. Time to lock up." As the two set about the museum, Wylie's protection strategy became apparent. While most windows had boards nailed to them, beneath the boards were the original bars set in by the original owners. In addition to the bars, Wylie had installed extra padlocks to all the doors and barricaded any exits that were not absolutely necessary.

With each metallic clang, the building grew darker and more ominous. Finally, with the last one, Wylie turned back towards her little closet. "We wait in my room until night has passed. I hope you're not claustrophobic."

Sierra grabbed the lantern and followed after Wylie, helping her to lock up. Once they were finished, she looked at Wylie and shook her head. "No. I'm not claustrophobic." She then turned to follow Wylie back toward her little room.

((oops :sorry: My bad))

The street of New York rushed beneath their car as they sped by the various buildings, all dark, and with the same potential. They could be hiding in any one of them. Ryan continued to watch in any direction he could, using the mirrors to his advantage. He tried to show that he had fear; if Liesel was scared, him being unstable would only make it worse. So he swallowed deeply and forced his hand to steady themselves.

Something was out there, he knew it, but he did not know how many. The whole bloody world fell, he thought, there must be a lot of 'em. He glanced at Liesel. "You okay?" He wasn't really sure if that was what he should have said; he had had little experience treating women correctly.

The decaying streets of New York rushed by, most doors left wide open. To Liesel, it seemed as though They could pour out of any one of those doors any minute. She stopped concentrating on each individual building and let them blur together, focusing instead on the road.

"You okay?"

Ryan's question snapped her out of her revirie. She turned her head to face him and studied him as best she could in the dark. He didn't look as scared as she felt, and that reassured her. She nodded.

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine." She paused, watching the streets fly by again, then spoke. "So how far away is your house, anyway?"

"Just a couple miles." Ryan said. Silence. Dead silence, like the night. It was slightly uneasing, considering the unseen horror. Whoever said, "What you don't know can't hurt you" had never been in a car doing seventy down an abandoned street with the fear of an undead crashing through his windshield.

Ryan glanced at Liesel, praying to God that she would make it out alright and that he would not screw things up. They were the last two. Without them, the earth was Hell. Come to think of it, it already was. And he was a street fighter. Someone who beat the pulp out of people for a living, and he was slightly scared. He could only wonder how much more scared she could possibly be. Reaching out his hand, he laid it on her's gently. He could not think of something to say that did not sound stupid, so he held his tongue, but tried to make eyes contact to reassure her.

A couple miles. Just a few more miles of silence, a few more miles of Purgatory, and they would arrive in Hell. Liesel closed her eyes and took a moment to gather her wits, then wiped her sweaty palms on her jeans.

She jumped when Ryan put his hand over hers, partly because the absence of human contact for three years had rendered even such simple contact foreign. It took under a minute for the surprise to wear off, though, and the warmth of his hand over hers became comforting. She looked into his eyes and managed a small smile.

Ryan pulled his hand back. "Sorry if I frightened you." he said, moing his eyes back to the road before them, but they soon darted back to her. "I did not mean to." The buildings still moved by quickly, but their dark windows and doors open to shadow did not bother him as much as they did a moment before. The creatures had not come, and maybe they would no. Just a little longer . . .

Liesel shook her head, her eyes meeting his briefly as he yanked his hand away. "It's....no. You didn't scare me." She was lying, but wished he would grab her hand, hold it close, whisper that everything would be okay....

Oh God, don't let them come.
