  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The first guy had the best joke of the night I thought.

We laughed the whole way through his routine. He was really, really good.

I read someone say the Muslim woman didn't make it through, and they thought she should have. We haven't seen her routine yet.

Okay, what the heck? That was a horrible show! We laughed at the first two guys on stage, we laughed at the Israli prop act (the Carrot Top guy -- and I can't even BELIEVE he didn't get through!), and that's about it. The vast majority of the comics last night were not funny at all, and many of them were just annoying.

The black guy who got through who did the voice bit - how you sound when you're fired, when you're pulled over by the cops, etc. - that was such a horrible bit, and it's all he did. I was shocked when he got through!

God's Pottery get on my last nerve. Those wide-mouthed smiles they always wear, they just look so ridiculous, and I don't find them funny at all. Ditto the Irish brother act -- it was such a one trick pony, I couldn't stand them. Really disappointed that GP went through.

I dunno, I just really thought after the first half hour, the whole show went downhill. I really didn't enjoy it much at all. :(

My husband and I are big fans of the show. After the seasons, we keep an eye out for the comics to appear at our local comedy club and have seen most all of the comics that have appears on the shows. Our favorites have been Ralphie May and Josh Blue. The first season was hands-down the best, and I don't think other seasons have come close to the hilarity of the first season comics.

I was rather surprised at who ended up being picked for this season. I'm hopin' that maybe they had other material that was funny that didn't air or something. I think there's another round of semi-finals so maybe some better comics will be chosen from that.

Well this week was a bit of a disappointment, I don't agree with who they sent through to the finals. Perhaps one or two are funny, but the rest I just don't think are funny, they may get a smile out of me, but not a hearty laugh. I think CJ, the guy from India is clever and makes you think, but it is a certain type of humour not everyone may appreciate.
I don't know it just seems a bit poor in talent this year.

The guy who did the world war II skit. [wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth] it was horrible. I was cringing. It was just horrible and offensive. I am so glad that judge pulled him up on it, I am glad what he said about that being racist humour back from the 40's and is not acceptable to him in 2008. I cannot believe people clapped for him really.

There are some comedians today who are able to pull the racial jokes off in an acceptable non offensive way, because they touch on reality of their own race, experiences and society as it is today, it is humour that can educate and promote racial harmony, and break barriers down, they basically know what they are doing e.g. Carlos Mencia, Chris Rock, etc...

but this guy.. an idiot!

The thing about this week is I disagree that racist humor is only racist if you do not belong to the race being joked about. Sorry, but that's hypocritical and total crap. If a joke is racist because it stereotypes and makes fun of a race, it shouldn't matter what race the person telling the joke is.

So while I thought the WWII guy was horribly unfunny, I could not believe the very next comic was the Asian girl who came out doing many of the same jokes -- and they lauded her and put her through to the finals. That really kind of soured me on the whole episode.

Sorry for the spoiler. :(

But yes I think she's the first woman.

No no, you were fine, it's the next morning -- perfectly acceptable to talk about the show now.

I didn't mind knowing, and figured I'd see it somewhere today anyway. It'll be this weekend before we get to watch the episode.

The only other person I thought might have it in the bag was Louis Ramey. He was really, really funny. But I'm glad a girl won it this time.

I agree that she deserved it.

I'm disappointed, though, with this summer's shortened version.

Yeah they really did seem to rush it. Two eliminated, three eliminated, final five -- I guess they had to get it off the schedule so they could air 50,000,000 interminable hours of the Olympics.

Yet America's Got Talent is returning now that the Olympics are over.
