  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Oh I'm so glad you started this thread, AirPo! Yes, we watched, all but the last 15 minutes (we'll finish it when hubby gets home tonight) so we saw everything up to the results for the Tempe try-outs.

I love this show. I didn't think the Asian girl was very funny, and I wish the guy who went first (I think his last name was Sank?) had gotten through instead. I thought he was hilarious. I don't know what's up with some of the people who try out, though. The American Gladiator guy who just ran around beating on things was weird, but not at all anything resembling funny.

I don't know what happened last night, but my TiVo showed LCS starting at 8:30 and running for an hour and a half. When I watched the recording today, it started in the middle of the San Francisco showcase, and they were on #7 of the top 10 worst list.

I checked the listing today and apparently it started at 8:00 so we missed the first half hour. I have no idea how or why that happened, but it really annoys me. I hope they rerun it Saturday night like they did last week.

Finally watched. I really wanted Killer Beez to go through and I was disappointed that he didn't make it.

And, I have no idea why Mary Mack went through either. I didn't think she was all that funny. Plus, I'll have that silly song in my head for the rest of the summer now.

Miss Mary Mack Mack Mack
All dressed in black black black
With silver buttons buttons buttons
All down her back back back

That's the one thing I don't like about this show. It seems the contestants that make it through are not always the funniest.

That's true. I also don't understand why they only take two or three comics from each location. Sometimes there are SO many funny people and only a couple of them get through. I wish they had fewer audition locations, or maybe a bigger semi-final group to pick from.

Although I gotta say, I haven't been that thrilled with some of the comics they've let through. The singing duos/trios -- they are comedic singers, not stand up comics. It's a very different genre and talent to me. And there are like three of them in the semis. I didn't find any of them particularly funny.

There are some comics -- of course I'm not going to know their names  -- who are soooooo funny, and I really hope they win. I'll try to pay attention to their names tonight so we can all root for them together. ;)

Great show. Results? Not so good.

We've only watched the first three or four acts so far. The first two were hilarious, the third not so much.

I've heard from about three different people now that the ones who got through were by far not the funniest. That's disappointing. :(
