Anyone know where i could find a cheap (even used) replacement LCD laptop screen for a Gateway M305X? I can only find one for $455 which is more than half the cost of the computer. grrr. thanks!

are you sure that it needs to be replaced?

I bought a laptop from a friend at an incredibly discounted rate because the screen was not working correctly. Before spending 300-400 on a replacement, I opened it up and saw that the connectors had become dislodged.

Since you didn't give many specifics of what the problem was, I thought I would just throw this out there.

yeah huge crack going diagonally across the screen! bout a third of it is whited out. but how do you open and check it? its worth a try. thanks!

They are incredibly expensive as a rule. I'm amazed you found one so cheap.

that sucks.. if you don't need it to be portable pick up a cheap crt and run it into the back.. if not.. sigh

I've done hardware repair (A+ certified in 1996); Have you ever tried to replace anything on laptop? Other than adding RAM or replacing a harddrive, laptops are exceeding trying to repair. Generally the monitor/screen of a laptop is connected to the motherboard by a *flimsy*, paper-thin cable. If it rips, your new screen is worthless.

If you're a repair veteran, or extremely careful, go for it. Otherwise, you might consider looking for a new laptop.
