Anyone else love these things!!!!! oh my! We LANed our x-box's last weekend and had several games of 8v8 capture the flag on Halo!! took us like 4 hours for 1 game! it was great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lan parties are alot of fun, however I lan with computers with friends. We've played Halo on the computer on a lan, not xboxes.

Think waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back to the days of the Commadore Amiga 500.

Even back then, me and a mate would get together, lini up via a null modem (RS232) cable and playt flight sims and driving games against each other.

LANing is where gaming is at!!! I LOVE IT!!!!

I agree. It takes it to an entirely new level when lan is involved. The most I have had is 2 v 2 on my n64 (4 controller pots), and I just got my game cube a while ago. lan is lame. If you want multiplayer, get online or just play 4 player. 3 v 3 or 4 v 4 *gawk* isn't worth the trouble when most games have turn-based tournament mode.

Lan = mega fun (as long as I don't get stuck on a 13" tv with 4 other people)

Lan's have two things over online, no lag, and the people are actually there with you.
But the 4 people on one tv, is weak. Even if its on a 64" hdtv.


And all of you Halo 2 players, better get online, cause you can only do 16, with lan. But you can do 24 with online, and you get your own tv, and you have a headset so you can taunt the competition.
Plus the best competition in the world is online.

Despite the internet, I still love doing lans with computers. There's something just so much more fun about all playing at one guy's house, being able to yell at each other, take a break and grab something to eat together, go for a smoke break and chat about the games or whatever, that kind of thing. There's a more human feeling to it, like when your family used to play monopoly or whatever, you're all there, in the room! It's less alienating, and depending on your internet connection it's usually faster too! I'm a little more leery of the 'big lans' now though, after having seen one too many degenerate into a bad-mouthing contest with a porn swap on the side. I'd rather do a little 8 person lan with just people I know.

we have a LAN party here nearly every weekend. its great! and dude, what do you mean Lan is Lame! dude, you cant beat the level of intensity from a 8v8 CTF or TFFA haloing!!! Besides God of course! Plus its Free to play with other people in a Lan, you have to pay to play online!

Yep thats it! I love ONLINE CS on the PC, but the social experience is null compared to having 2v2 on PS2 linkup TimeSplitters2, with Hot and Spicey piza, coke, and garlic bread on the side! YUM!!!!

Oh hearing the shout from the other side of the room "Oh ****, it's christos!!!" ahhhh the feeling!!!! So glad I had the sesh before I left the UK. I miss my mates

My nephew went to a private school in the UK where the IT students are "encouraged" to buy a laptop. The whole school is rigged with a wireless lan.

He says you just go into school in the morning and if you have a free period, go to the cafateria and log on with Counterstrike and there will already be about 10 games in session. LOL!!!

I'd hate to be thier IT admin LOL!!!
