Ok, so the devil and wicked are cast into fire, burned up and THEN the earth is destroyed and remade? Interesting.

One commentary I read actually suggested the "lake of fire" might be a star somewhere in outer space. But again, anyone put there would be consumed and destroyed rather quickly.

20:15 lake of fire. The lake of fire is obviously not located on this present earth, for this present earth will have burned up and “fled away” (Revelation 20:11) by this time; yet the lake of fire will have been burning continuously for more than a thousand years (Revelation 19:20). Neither will it be on the new earth, for that will be the home of “the Lord God Almighty” (Revelation 21:22), whereas “[they] that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ?shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power” (II Thessalonians 1:8-9).
The word “destruction” does not mean annihilation, but “ruin.” Thus, the unsaved will be moved far, far away from the presence of the Lord, and there they will remain forever. They may well be translated to a far distant dark star, for a star is itself a lake of fire, and the lost are said to be like “wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever” (Jude 13). There they must continue in their sinful state, hating God, never resting, without light, without love, without peace, without anything that speaks of the presence or power of God, forever.

Thats the same point that i made before. To support these doctrines, conclusions must be made that cannot be supported by Scripture. I shall quote Peter again. This guy says its not on earth in an attempt to explain that hell will burn forever. If your premise is wrong your conclusion will be wrong too.

2Pe 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. (the present heaven and earth. No where else)
2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (If hell burns forever then no one can perish)
2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. (I didnt notice the star that the guy mentioned you know)
2Pe 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
2Pe 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

So Peter says that the heavens and the earth shall be burned up but despite this we look for a new heaven and a new earth. Its easy and simple. No strange unbiblical conclusions and interpretations needed. If the bible says that the earth and heaven which is now shall be burned up and God shall make a new one then that what's going to happen. End of Story.

The lake of fire (Revelation 20:15) is literal. Those
who will be cast into it won't live forever, but
suffer the second death (Revelation 20:14, 21:8), in
which they will be tormented in fire and brimstone
forever (Revelation 14:10-11, 20:10, Matthew 25:41,46a),
while the saved will live forever (Matthew 25:46b) with
God who lives forever (Revelation 15:7b).

The bodies of the unsaved in the lake of fire won't
ever be annihilated (Mark 9:45-46, Isaiah 66:24)
because the unsaved will have been resurrected into
incorruptible resurrection bodies after the millennium
(Revelation 20:5a), at the great white throne judgment
(Revelation 20:11-15). In the lake of fire, as soon as
the fire burns part of their bodies, or worms eat part
of their bodies, that part will regenerate, so that the
fire will never run out of fuel and go out, and the
worms will never run out of food and die (Mark 9:45-46,
Isaiah 66:24).

In the New Testament, there are two different Greek
words translated as "hell". The first is "hades", and
refers to the temporary hell of the souls of the
unsaved dead in which they are tormented by fire (Luke
16:23-24) until the great white throne judgment. The
second is "geenna" (Gehenna), and refers to the lake
of fire, the eternal hell (Mark 9:45-46) in which the
resurrected unsaved will be cast after the great
white throne judgment (Revelation 20:15).

The original Gehenna, the valley of Hinnom, was just
outside the walls of Jerusalem (Joshua 15:8, Jeremiah
7:31-33). On the new earth (Revelation 21:1-4), the
lake of fire will be a second Gehenna (Mark 9:45-46)
placed just outside the walls of new Jerusalem
(Revelation 22:15, 21:8), so that the saved on the
new earth will go forth and look upon the unsaved in
the lake of fire (Isaiah 66:22,24).
