  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

KOTOR 3 (probably spoilers)

Does Hanharr replace Mira?

You know, I was wondering why I never ended up with a wookie in my party? I kept getting items that said, "Can't be worn by a wookie" and I'm thinking to myself, "Okay... so... why isn't Hanharr joining my party?"

I found Mira really useful. I liked the fact that she could run through mines without setting them off.

But Bal-Dur's arm (the one that breaks through force fields), I found that really useless as there were hardly any force fields to break though in the entire game.

And wasn't Atton supposed to be able to sense danger? I don't know about the rest of you, but he never gave me any warnings.

Things I've heard:
-When you get to Nar Shadaa, whether you get Mira or Hanharr depends on your light/dark alignment
-The third time you play through the game, everything changes. I haven't read this myself, but I'm in the middle of my second time through and I'll let you guys know if it's true
-The second time through goes really quickly - as fast as 16 hours - especially on dark side

Things I've noticed:
-I figured Canderous was Mandalore right from the beginning. I didn't think they'd use the same voice actor for two different characters in your party in the two games
-I used the Handmaiden whenever I could, especially after getting her force powers. She does mad-crazy damage.
-My roommate got an "HK Pacification" program, but he missed one part, so he didn't get to use it. That's one thing we're gonna go for on the second time through :)

I like having to work for the lightsaber. I really liked having the Force powers progress slowly. It really makes you appreciate getting the saber for the first time.

Indeed. More evidence that KOTOR II was released unfinished.

I swear, when I started playing KOTOR II, all this new stuff was getting me so excited. The only new thing that seemed to follow through properly was the ability to break down items into components and chemicals, and being able to create new items.

By the way, there weren't enough Lab Stations either. Hmmph!

No. Where can I find them?

Also, in the trailor that they show in the beginning of the game (before you press start) it shows a dark jedi snapping a fools neck with the force while levitating him in the air.

Is there really a force power that you can use to do that? Or was that just another letdown?

everyone complains about the loose ends of KOTOR II

Most people assume that the game was rushed, even if that is the case i think this is not the only reason.

The ending of the first game is like New Hope, (ie a crowd of people cheering for you) The second is like Empire you just fly off into space. I think II grew beyond the reach of one game and they are leaving the loose ends to three. They are probably already working on III.

For KOTOR III I would want:

Graphics overhaul, they can definitely make it look 10X better
Good physics system, like you can force push enemies into crates and it all collapses realistically(spoiled by Half-Life 2)
Get a lightsaber earlier on
More character faces to choose from
Better character, lightsaber, and fighting style customization
Implement a real-time lightsaber fighting mode, where you control exactly what they do, every swing and block with mouse/keyboard

It's the power Force Crush I believe, so yeah, it's in there.

Did anyone here make good use of the lightsaber forms while playing?

I tried to remind myself from time to time to switch lightsaber forms while I was fighting, but I think I got by just fine without having to think about them.

It would be the equivelent of using higher mathematics to solve basic addition. Don't get me wrong, I love the game, but it's way too easy.

It's a stupid point maybe, certainly not the most important, but I didn't like how the game steered character fighting/design styles to be influenced by genders and light/dark. There were a lot of skills and upgrades you could only get as male or female and light or dark (I'm not talking about light/dark specific skills either here). I went for max defense and hit probability as a design strategy only to find out you had to be male to get the skill that allows you to add your WIS bonus to defense. No advanced warning, just a wrench in my plan mid-game. Neverwinter Nights didn't pull that kind of stuff, not that I remember anyways, and I hope Kotor 3 doesn't either. I hate it when the rewards of decisions vary so greatly they weigh in on the decisions too much. I mean what's always better, some silly cash you can pick up anywhere, or a permanent buff? What kind of decision is that for the player? It'd be nice if the core player stuff were open to whatever path/gender/quest/whatever. I don't mean items necessarily, but the core stuff. Plot is more fun when you aren't pulled around like this in your choices. I dunno if I'm making sense, it just bugged me... Until I found an editor. :)
