  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was a Korn fan when I was younger, but I've gotten out of that genre. I think it's awesome that he's devoted his life to Christ. A lot of unexpected conversions have been happening lately. Has anyone else noticed this in their lives?

Who needs to hear his message? Christendom in their bubble, or the world that knew who he used to be, and would could benefit more by hearing what he has to say now? In addition, which avenue would allow him a larger scope of exposure in the way of marketing, distribution, etc.?

Aside from all that, getting signed to a Christian label would probably be the death of his career.

I totally disagree. I think that if/when he gets into a Christian band it will open more people eyes that knew what he did to see what Jesus has done for them.

well, that's not totally disagreeing, though. if this ex-korn guy wants to start a band and sing about his experiences, good for him. but if he were to jump headfirst into the solely Christian market, getting signed to a Christian label, he'd probably be losing a good chunk of secular audience he could have if signed with a major label. for instance, look at switchfoot. they're now on a major record label, & Christians still listen, but now switchfoot has a much larger secular following.

oh yeah, and, i kind of always liked david gray.

That's exactly my point. Christian kids will listen to him because he's a believer now (if they didn't already listen to Korn), and kids in the secular audience would be exposed to his music as well. I seriously doubt that would be the case if he signed to a strictly-Christian label.

I disagree. I think in about a month or two he will look back on what he was coming out of and be happy of the commitment to the Lord. He may not make as much money, But money isn't everything in life.

Why is that?

A believer isn't bound by the desires and trappings of financial success.

He knows that by making this decision he will not have the fame and wealth he once had, but he's own healthy soul in Christ must mean more to him than these things.

I was completely stoked to see him escape that way of life.

here's an article on Head leaveing the band:

Revolver Magazine-May, 2005

THIS JUST IN
No More Issues
KORN GUITARIST LEAVES BAND, JOINS CHURCH.

Korn have never been shy about their hedonistic exploits, and, like his bandmates, guitarist Brian "Head" Welch was never one to turn away drugs, booze or babes. But now, after 13 years of revelry, Welch has quit Korn to devote his life to Christianity. The group's management said in a statement, "Korn have parted ways with Head, who has chosen Jesus Christ as his savior and will be dedicating his music pursuits to that end. Korn respect Brian's wishes and hope he finds the happiness he's searching for." Welch presented a letter of resignation to the band on February 8, citing moral objections to Korn's music and videos as major reasons for his departure. However, he refrained from putting out his own press statement and first publicly spoke about his decision before the congregation of the Valley Bible Fellowship in Bakersfield, California, during Sunday Mass. A replacement for Welch has not yet been named. Korn still plan to complete their new record in time for a September release.

Please. Hendrix was an awsome guitarist. Brian Welch was a mediocre guitarist who compensated by cramming his riffs full of annoying effects.

Hendrix is all history. Welch is present.
