No- I can't imagine that is does in any way almost everyone in this area is the same race as we are.

The only other thing I can think of is that someone has found out about our past and does not like us for that... (I am a former stripper, prostitute and porn model and my husband a former strip club manager). We left that life over 11 years ago. I don't know. I am just grasping at straws here.

Today sometime while we were home someone knocked our trash cans over and spread trash everywhere. We don't have security cameras up yet and I didn't hear anything my dog didn't even bark...

Also today my son and I went to our two neighbors homes (one wasn't home) and the other we talked to briefly about what happened. They seemed genuinely concerned and said they will keep a look out as well.

Unfortunately, this suggests that whatever is going on is intentional. Someone evidently did this in daylight(?) in such a way that they would not gather attention.

This needs to be taken to the police. Alone it would mean little, but together with the previous incident it gains considerable importance and should not be ignored. Also, it's a very good thing to let your neighbors know about this, because not only might they help cover you, their safety might be at risk too.

Finally, on the spiritual side, fear is the enemy of faith. Keep yourself in the love and comfort of God. Convert any fear you have into practical action to protect yourself, but after that let the peace of God, which passes understanding and circumstances, guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (php 4).

Were the police able to get any fingerprints off of the knives?

How old is your son? Is he a preteen or teen?
How is he handling the move?
What was his response/reaction to the knives being "planted"
in the front yard?

How are the neighbors who have homes close to yours
reacting to this situation?
Notice any of them acting strange? are they not friendly etc?

It's interesting the dog didn't bark at the person who spread
the garbage in your yard...
Does your dog usually bark when stranger(s) are in your yard?
Or is your dog just way too friendly to strangers?

Here's a thought, as I had an issue not long ago with my mail. Only themailmandidit! Argh!

Anyway, have you noticed your mail gone missing of late? Any bills that would have your personal account numbers, etc...?

Now days, and I know a guy who does this on a regular basis, you can pay as little as $10.00 for a background check on just about anyone.

The more money one wants to spend, the deeper and further back things can go.
If you were in porn, and you look now as you did then, someone could remember you and have taken the incentive to find out if they were right, by stealing your mail and doing the research.

Especially if you have stickers on your car(s) regarding your faith now. A cross dangling from the rear view mirror, etc... In other words, if you are now outwardly, in any way, different than you were then, including to some appearing to be self righteous, they could think to scare you because they have knowledge of your past.

It's a good thing you're getting security cameras for your property. I'd point one at my mailbox and front and back door as well.
Make sure they record.
Comcast has a home security program they're advertising in our area now, that lets you look in on your house while you're away.

That part creeped me out a bit, quite frankly. Remembering the George Orwell classic, "1984", where there was no privacy because Big Brother, by law, could watch the goings on in your home through the TV, that everyone had to have.
But now days, home security seems to be a must have to combat all the evil that seems to be growing exponentially in some people.


Also, when you invest in a home security system, I'd suggest you don't put those little stickers or signs the company gives you, on your windows or in your yard.
Why forewarn some idiot what's waiting for them, when chances are they can find a way to bypass the security system they're forewarned you have?
Let them find out the hard way that no trespassing means NO!
(Also, just as an aside, if you have a dog DO NOT EVER put up that sign, "Beware of Dog" . We know both police and Judges here and they all say, when that sign appears on a private property and someone gets bit, it's the owner liability that kicks their own teeth in, when they're sued by the one bitten. Because that sign says the owner knows their dog bites and thus holds potential to be a public nuisance. Simply posting the "No Trespassing" sign, puts the ball fully in your court.
Let a trespasser find out the dog bites when the jaws clamp down. (Then floss doggies teeth thoroughly afterward. Because taking a bite of idiot can cause all sorts of gum disease and plaque doggie doesn't need to suffer! )
I wish peace to your house and all this scary stuff you've suffered thus far becomes a thing of the past.

i told you that there would probably be a few more incidents, right?
stop and think about what's going on - it reflects a really juvenile mentality.
penknives in the front yard ... knocking over trash.
it's seriously immature.
it's being done by kids, or adults whose brain never got past high school.
but probably the former.

most people in your neighborhood are not against you.
so don't let a couple of deadbeats ruin your whole day.

do you belong to a local church?
invite people over for lunch.
let the neighborhood see that some people in town accept you.

same thing goes for your neighbors.
invite them over.

this stuff will pass.
don't shoot anyone just cause they knocked over some trash.

Thanks again for the replies. I can't respond to each one as my son finally fell asleep and I am exhausted. So I will do my best to answer what I am able to right now.

I did not contact the police today regarding the trash or the knives to see if there were fingerprints. The officer yesterday indicated to me that they would be in touch with me.

My son is 5 - so his reaction to the knives in the yard was sheer curiosity at the shiny things...

We have 2 neighbors that are close to us and they seem okay. We talked to one of them today and they seemed genuinely upset about the knives. The other neighbor wasn't home when we went by today but overall we get along okay. We buy girl scout cookies from their daughter (age 8) and we wave at each other when we see each other. I think the last time we actually talked was the Fourth of July when we were all out front.

It is interesting that my dog didn't bark about the trash being knocked over today. She usually barks at everything. Only thing I can think of is that she must have been asleep inside when it happened.

So far we haven't noticed any mail missing, but I will keep an eye out for that.

As far as anyone recognizing me from my porn days...it's highly unlikely. Now I am just a middle aged Mommie. I no longer wear my hair real long, tan or work out like a maniac.

We will be getting the security cameras sometime next week. We already have a security system and already have the signs in the windows...

We don't have a beware of dog sign though.

It is quite immature behavior and gideon123 you are right that you mentioned there would be a few more incidents. I promise not to shoot anyone that does not break into my home. I do suffer from PTSD and I guess this is triggering some anxiety in me.

We do not belong to a local church. We attend one or two now and then but have not settled into one...

God bless each of you for your thoughts and prayers. Sorry if I seem like I am over-reacting. Just freaked me out a bit.

(HUGS) You're not over reacting one bit. Finding three knives in your front yard isn't an every day event. It's not like someone was driving by and flicked out a few blades, as they would a cigarette butt.

You have a family to take care of and that includes your dog, which can be a target for malicious people. You have every right to be secure in your person, family and home.
So, no apologies please. We love you and want you to be safe and happy.

they have these cameras for hunters that take pictures when motion is sensed, might be a good idea to see exactly what your dealing with, sometimes neighborhood kids like to prank the new people (bored suburban life) and are trying to see if they can spook you, cans being tipped over, jack knives in the yard, this is really kids stuff
