I wonder if anyone can advise me please? I am knitting a baby blanket in 4 ply wool on 31/4 mm needles as per the pattern instructions. The thing is that the pattern says that the blanket should measure 351/2 inches square, but my blanket only measures barely 30 inches across. I am not sure what I have done wrong. I am knitting a sort of basket weave pattern (that is the best way I can describe it) and it is a 22 row pattern repeat. I am not sure if I should be using larger needles. Any help would be much appreciated.

It is possible that your tension is too tight - you may be knitting too tightly - most knitting patterns do recommend knitting a smalll sample of the pattern first to check that you will be knitting to the correct tension, but I have to admit that I have never taken that advice myself
