My cat is pregnant. She is an indoor cat...but a neighborhood male managed to sneak into the apartment. She isn't even a year old and she is small. I am worried for her...and on top of that, I will have kittens to get rid of. Fun, Fun. On top of that...my dog is afraid of kittens. He loves cats and even older kittens are OK...but he is terrified of newborns. Weird.

Cats are pretty tough, I'm sure she will be alright. I grew up on a farm, and never saw a cat die from having kittens no matter how young the mom was.

It will be a pain to try and get rid of them, that's true - plus you will probably want to keep one because they are so darn cute.

I guess have her fixed after this batch of kitties. It will be kind of fun though to see the little fellers or gals.

I will take pictures and post them. :) My daughter wants to keep one. My husband says "No way!". I can get a voucher to have her fixed for free. I was planning on doing this, but I waited too long. :(

i can't wait to see pics!! little baby kittens are so darn cute....and your husband says "no way", but just wait til he sees those darling little things, one of them is bound to worm it's way into his heart....nobody can resist a kitten!!

He likes cats...but he is right. We live in a small apartment and already have two animals. I love cats and would love to keep one of the kittens...but right now, it just isn't practical. I think that is why God gave us husbands...to force us to be practical when we need to be. I would be a crazy cat lady if he would let me.

"Our" cat (the one who hangs out with about five families in the neighborhood) just had kittens. No one knows where she has them hidden, but we expect to see them toddling along after her in a few weeks.

She's a sweet little alley cat - tortoise shell with a white foot. She stops by to play with the kids and get her ears scratched, then she's off on her merry way.

Cute cat and dog.

Kittens are so adorable, but the finding homes for them is not easy.

We had a vet who told us to have them spayed at about 6 months, about the time they go into heat the first time. But yeah, I would say that your cat will have that appointment after homes have been found for the kittens.

Even if the male cat did not get in, your cat would have probably gotten out during that time. I have seen it happen so many times. Happened with my niece's cat this winter.

Strangly, my cat has no desire to get out. I think it is really weird, actually. But she never even comes near the door when I leave...though she is always waiting by it when I come home.

I'd take a few of them. We can use a few barn cats here. Problem is, you probably (quite understandably) wouldn't let me have them, for fear the lil' kitties would in turn become kitty food. Yeah, we have Cougars, 'n, Bobcats, 'n, Bears here.

We have them here, too, actually...and coyotes and foxes. If I had some land, I would have a barn full of barn cats.

What kind of animals do you have?

Goats, sheep and dogs presently. I'd like to set up a chicken coop, however up here it has to be pretty burglar proof. Otherwise one can come home from town to find a coop of dead chickens. 'Course, if a Bear wants in, there's not much I can do about it. The rest of them can be dealt with.

I'm also considering some horses. However, things in that area are really iffy right now and I'm waiting to see what develops. Thus, if one keeps feed and has a home here, the vermin are constantly trying to get in. Rats, mice, and bigger, scarier stuff.

My mistake was in thinking that because she is an indoor cat, she wouldn't end up pregnant. I clearly underestimated the resourcefulness of determined male cats. @Tangible...your tortie cat sounds adorable.

well, you know how those ole tom cats are!! ^_^ They only care about one thing...giving us more kittehs and more photos for icanhascheezburger!!

I love goats. I used to have one. My dog used to chase him when he was little...then he figured out that he could butt...after that, he chased the dog. I love chickens, too. But keeping varmints away from them is a problem. I had some geese that served as guard geese...they did a pretty good job at keeping away small critters...and an old tom turkey that fought off a big dog...he saved all but one of my chickens and ducks.

I had a horse named Romeo. He was a sweetie...but he didn't know he was gelded and kept trying to get to the mares next door. I had to do a bit of doctoring because he kept getting cut up trying to get through the fence. My ex-husband wouldn't spend money on a vet...so it was up to me. Still...he was a joy to ride and I don't regret having him.

If you have any pics of your animals, you should post them. :)
