  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Anyone else have a little one heading off to school this year? Emily starts tomorrow (well, today...look at the time:o ) and I'm having a hard time getting excited about it because I'm going to miss her so much. My little baby is growing up and I'm not ready for it. She's so excited and just can not wait. It's all she's talked about for the last few months. I'm thrilled that she's excited...I mean, it'd be even more horrible if she was scared to go. :sigh: And she's going to have to ride the school bus and I'm so nervous and afraid that she'll be scared or shy or something. Or sermon in church on Sunday was about how Jesus takes care of his sheep and how it's pointless to worry...just hand it all to Him and trust that He'll take care of our needs.

You guys just pray for me and Emily, please...and all the moms and kids going through the same thing. This really is so much harder than I thought it was going to be. It's a happy day, but really sad for me at the same time.

Will be praying for you Heather!!

I've had to return to work full-time and so my little one is going to nursery as soon as school starts back in September

Given the choice I would be at home with her so I'm having 'good' days and bad days about it as we approach the end of August.

My third starts school next February (our school year is different here). I thought it would get easier with each child, but even now I'm sad -probably more so because he's my 'baby', - and,for us it's the end of babies & preschoolers
but thanks for reminding us twincrier, that it's a new stage, and indeed, life would be boring if not for these 'new stages'.

yes, my baby is starting kindergarden this year too, it is exciting and sad all at once. This is my last baby, she is so excited though it is easy to get caught up in her excitement. We have been 24/7 for 5 yrs. So much different than my son who by the way is starting middle school which is a challenge all in its own. I am having a harder time letting him go I think :) When he was a baby I was going to school and so he was used to other care, this time I stayed home the whole time she didnt even go to preschool so it is different it will be interesting. I am sure.

Hey! What about us dads? We miss our babies too. ;) :D

Just kidding. I'll be praying for you Heather.

I often find it ironic that its the parents who have problems with their children going to school rather than the children themselves.

Is she going to be at school all day or is it only half day?

God bless

It's all day school, but they have a nap after lunch. And for these first 2 weeks, the kindergarteners only go a couple of times a week to help get them used to the whole school routine. So, she went on Wednesday last week...she has school on Monday, and then on Thursday. After that she'll be going full time. Her bus picks her up at 6:35 and drops her off at 3:40. School is actually from 7:45 until 2:45, though. Such a long day for such a little girl!

She's so excited about school. Her class does this Day 100 thing...it's an all day math day and each kindergartener has to bring in a collection of 100 things. She's already collecting...even though we've only gotten through Day 1! She was upset that she can't go every day until next week, LOL.

This is one of those things I'm sure will get easier for me as the year goes along. It's just hard letting her go...trusting other people to take care of her all day long. Heaven help me. :prayer:

Thanks for the insight and prayers. :)

No kindergarteners here. Next year our youngest goes. I remember when our special needs child was supposed to start his first day. His bus never came. Luckily I had a vehicle and drove him myself. He was so happy. He'd already met his EA (educational assistant) and she's so nice. That was the very first time he'd ever said ~bye mom~. With his limited vocabulary, I was thrilled that he got off to an excellent start.
When our second son got on with the neighbour's kids, I knew I could trust that everything would go well!
