Kinda Mad (and got a question)

This is an IM converstaion w/ a guy i know who is atheist, but look (i need yall to answer a question) (i changed my mind, the prob is in there too, read the whole thigng and you will get the point, the gothic thing, and the 3 days in hell is the question) (i changed his name for privacy )
(also, the prob expalined better: what i said an also one thing was the nine sacraments of satansim and number nine was tat Satan was the Chruch's best friend from the beginning or sumtin and at the top it said source: from the satanic bible, and i got up just after reading that and went back to my desk{nice teacher, walk all over the classroom :} and at recess she was all like you were really offended and i was like yeah and she said i was weird.)

I am not exactly sure about this, but I believe that Jesus did not go to hell, if the meaning that you provide to hell is the same that we attribute to hell in modern times.

I believe that in the Jewish religion there were two words that distinguished between two types of hell. I think the two words are hades and gehenna (am I correct about this from somebody that knows). One signifies a hell that contained people that were waiting to be saved (this is where Jesus went to free them) and the other hell is the same hell that we think of today.

I think that the ones that were waiting to be saved were waiting Abraham's bosom, or at least that is what they called it.

If somebody else could provide some clarification.

Hi, p2bc! You've got it, right on the money. There were two places. Jesus talked about them in the story He tells about "Poor" Lazarus and the Rich Man. The Rich Man was in hell; Lazarus was in the 'bosom of Abraham'. Jesus went to the latter to tell them the Good News and bring them to heaven.

I don't know what the church teaches but I do know that gehenna was a place on earth at the time of Jesus It was a garbage pile on I beleive the West gate (don't hold me acountable for the right cardinal direction) where there were constant fires burning. THis place was also where The bodies of criminals where burnt. I don't think it was actually anytype of hell. as in where sould go.

er, if you want my honest opinion on this one....assuming they're around your same age and in your class (i think i read that correctly), frankly i just think that they're trying to be "different." in the late stages of middle school or in high school there are always the dummy that walk around and try to "shock" others. you know, guys that wear dresses with combat boots and such. maybe it's more apparent in the northeast where i grew up. you'll always meet folks that "are in touch with the earth" or "like to practice wicca" or some other rubbish like that. frankly, half the time folks profess to be "atheist" and what-not (especially at your age) is because they are afraid of opening themselves up and "conforming."

i'm guessing prior to all this satan garbage these girls may have been sort of outcasts, not have many friends etc etc. forming their own small groups, practicing all sorts of silly "religions" etc is often simply a way to make them feel like they belong to something.

i would suggest next time you see them, especially when you see something that you think is anti-Catholic, don't simply turn on your heel and walk away. investigate and spend a second to talk to them. what's the worst they can do? make fun of you and your beliefs? i know yours are strong enough to overcome any such slights. besides, you may even be lucky enough to plant the seed of understanding about the truth the Catholic church has to offer.

opus-dei: Yeah. They kinda have their own group, not really dorks, but not part of the popular group. One *is* a Catholic, but she said once like a year ago that they only go like twice a year for Easter and Christmas. The other once said she *was* Baptist. I admit, nobody talks about God at school, and seeing as I am not even officially Catholic, I dont really like talking too much about it. I feel terrible. I think i am gonna start another thread.
