well you found out a little later in the movie that her name is [beeeeep].

I guess they were just setting us up for that? I don't know...

I thought they both were good movies... I liked all the action and style of the first one, but I also thought the dialogue in the second one was great too. I like to count these two as one movie, and I'd have to say I'd rank them second to only Pulp Fiction, in terms of Quentin Tarantino movies.

I thought reservoir dogs and jackie brown were good movies too... but I didn't get into them like I did this.

oh, goat37, why for not using of teh spoiler buttons?!?

i read the script a couple years ago and the reason given then was Tarantino didn't want folks focusing on an actual name other than The Bride as it could take away from the revenge aspect somehow, it was kinda fuzzy on that.

I agree. :) For some reason I just found myself more interested in what was going on in Kill Bill Vol. 1 (still have to see 2) then in Pulp Fiction. Maybe it was the company I was in while watching the two movies. Or maybe it was something else.

I finally saw vol. 1 last night. Naturally I did not pay for it, but instead saw it at a friend's house. I would give it 3 out of 5 stars. I loved the fight scenes. However, there was very little plot. From what I could gather, there was more plot in Scooby Doo 2. I found that the only creative thing about the entire plot was the ending where
the watcher learns that Uma's daughter is still alive.
. Honestly, I can sum up the entire plot in 3 words: "girl seeks revenge." I also think that some of the scenes were overdone, thus making them monotanous. At the end, she tells one of her enemies
I am keeping you alive so you can tell Bill that I am coming; so that he will know. You can tell him that I know he knows. You can tell him I know he knows I know.
.

Definitely not one of Tarantino's better movies, but overall it was okay.

I saw Pulp Fiction agian this week.

Pulp Fiction is better than Kill Bill in many ways. Not to say I had more fun in Pulp Fiction, I honestly think I had more fun in kill bill, but that doesn't mean its a better movie.

Kill Bill was a thrown together type movie, that was more about a tribute to the 70's kung fu movies, and fun, than about being a powerhouse type movie.

Acting - Pulp Ficiton all the way.
Story - Well you know what happens in Kill Bill....Uma Wins, simple, simple. Pulp Fiction is one of the most complicated movies ever made. Especially the way they edit it.
Characters - Agian Pulp Fiction, this is QT's greatest strength, character developement.
Special Effects - Kill Bill easily.
Sound Track - Right now Kill Bill, but thats becuase its fresh.

Pulp Fiction is a masterpiece, which was nominated for movie of the year, and probably some actor nominations. It set the movie indrustry on fire, easily becoming one of the influencial movies of all time.
Very few movies have sucked me in as deep as this one has.
The one scene where Bruce Willis is waiting to turn onto a road. The guy he rips off, is crossing the road right in front of him, and he doesn't notice him right off.
But when he does, the first thing I thought was HIT HIM, and I think I even said it out loud. As soon as I said it, he hit the gas! There were alot of scenes like that, where I picked the same option, the person picked.
Plus the actors lines were brilliantly written, alot of things came back around full circle. Example, the guy that got thrown off of the roof, the directer took you one direction, then back, then back again, for 3 different opinions on one subject. Even if you didn't fall for it, the actors were so believable, and the chemistry so rich, that it doesn't matter.

I saw Vol. 2 last night and I must say that the movie was awesome. Of course it had much less action than the first but I knew that in advance so I wasn't disappointed about that at all.

I thought the writing and performance of each actor in both volumes were excellent. All in all though these two movies have become my two favorites of all time.

It was mentioned that Tarantino split it up into two movies to make more money. Actually, Tarantino didn't want to split it up - the movie company didn't want to release a 4-hour movie.

And I like that he hid the Bride's name in the first movie, because once you see the second and find out her name, it totally twists everything, and you see how clever some of the lines really are.

I saw Vol 2 last night, it was pretty awesome. I loved the old Chinese guy, probably my favorite character in the movie. Vol 2 is a lot more dialogue driven, and there's a lot less action.

Now I just have to wait for the special edition double dvd to come out.

Since everyone else is doing their ratings, Kill Bill is my favorite QT movie, then Reservoir Dogs, then Pulp Fiction. I've never seen Jackie Brown.

Let's just say I'm glad I didn't buy the thing. Fight scenes were interesting, but overall I was not impressed. (The cursing was unecessary.) I guess I just don't enjoy Tarantino's style. I was glad I rented Master and Commander and watched it second.

I have watched this movie 5 times in a little over a week. Its the music that sucks me, I love that soundtrack.

I was looking to get a real japanese sword, just like in the movie. So I was thinking how much one would cost, I figured maybe 5 to 10 thousand, probably.
So I talked to a coworkers husband who is Japanese. He has a real authentic sword, that was passed down from generations.
He said a new one would cost 98,000$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And that I would have to wait for years before I got the thing, because of all the back orders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He siad the medal was some kind of letter/number combination, like R7 or something like that. And that it took a long time to make a sword, the metal had to be 'folded' over and over.
He then told me about these lines called Blood Lines. They are the wavey lines the run down the middle of the sword.
When your sword has blood on it, you just sling it, and these blood lines help the blood to just fly off!! I was impressed with that. Uma did that a couple of times in the movie. Ishii did too, but not as effective, maybe its not real blood, and that played a part.

Knowing this, makes that sword scene all the more appropriate. Uma telling Sonny to giver her a sword. The way she was asking, it had a little force to it. $98,000 dollars, I can see why.

Bump.

I've never seen either of the Kill Bills, but for the first time ever, I'm thinking about seeing them. But the reason I haven't up to this point is simple: Although I don't mind watching mature content, the idea of blood and gore being funny unnerves me. And yet, based on what I see here and elsewhere, KB1 and KB2 are VERY good movies.

So I may watch it, I may not. I dunno.

Hey RT,

Its super bloody. But it is intended to be viewed as a comic strip would be read, where its all fake, where the excessive blood fits the almost supernatural nature of some comic book heros. I ended up laughing through much of the first film because the blood was just too ridiculous to be serious. There were definitely some sad parts, but the music is excellent and the story is well written. It really messed with your head though, I gotta warn you.

Yeah, that seems to be a resounding theme: The violence is so fantasized that it triggers that, "What the heck? LOL!" reaction in the viewer's mind. I wonder, though...what is it that turns some people off? Violence in and of itself? The sheer quantity and intensity of it? Or, as with me ATM, the humorous reaction it is supposed to generate?
