In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Personally, I was so stinking bored throught the whole movie (Vol.1). I am amazed at Tarantino's bad directing. There was way too much blood to the point of being very unrealistic and stupid. And the the whole "we're going to stand around and attack one at a time" thing made it all the worse. I dunno if I will waste the money on the second. :\

What do you mean the blood is unrealistic? It was so real, that is how it would really look like. Also one person taking out 100, is very realistic. And how about all of those impossible flips, those are very realistic. Some of the caracters were jumping up on second story levels, I have done that before, but its still cool to watch. :p

I really liked the movie. Great sound track, characters are like something out of a comic book. The animation scenes were great.Uma wasn't perfect, but still great.

The fight scenes were very impressive. Everything flowed very well, only a few times, did I think the timing seemed off.Uma at times showed her true human self, which really should have been redone, but they didn't hurt the scene much.Lucy's character and her personal body guard "GoGo" played great parts.

The action is there, and the dialog is to, but not as much as his other films.

I'm not sure what the draw to these movies is. No I haven't seen them, so I won't go on and on about how bad they are. But even with just seeing the trailers, they just don't look like they're interesting. I guess I just don't enjoy Tarantino's style, but I'm surprised at how many people in the country love it.

You completely missed the point. The movie is not at all supposed to be "realistic." It's supposed to be about style, rather than realistic content. Of course the blood flowing like a fountain is not realistic. Of course a scene with 1 person fighting 100 is not realistic. Tarantino was making an homage to other films, and having fun with it at the same time. The movie is a brilliant display of form over content. As Roger Ebert said, "The movie is not about anything at all except the skill and humor of its making." That's fine if you don't like that idea, but don't knock it for being "unrealistic."

I think the first was yet another milestone for Tarantino and I'm quite sure Vol. 2 is even better. One of the best directors today IMO.

If you love the kung-fu flicks of old and understand that Tarantino was paying homage/his respects to those movies and enjoying his passion of directing a genre he loves then you would fall in love with Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. So if you're looking for realism in these movies then you desperately need to go somewhere else to see it because you won't find any. Anyway what nadroj1985 said is spot on.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 is one of the best movies I've watched in a very long time and I'm sure I'm going to love Vol. 2. In the end these two movies are going to be at the top of my all-time favorites list from now on. :)

Come ON bro. This movie wasn't meant to be taken seriously. Yeesh. It was a knod to all the 70's ultra-lame chopsocky kung fu revenge flicks. Suspend your disbelief.

Well I watched the first one tonight... and all I can really say was it was SIMPLY AMAZING.

Alot of people said it was really bad because it was very unrealistic... but you have to realize, the movie wasnt supposed to be realistic... obviosly the blood and 1 on 100 fighting isnt real.. I mean frigg... the first scene in the movie tell ya that its not going to be realistic... she was shot in the head and survived lol....

Anyways I thought it was fantastic. Everything from the camera shots, the wardrobe, music lighting... everything was just great.... and yes... I even thought the animation scene was very well placed. It really added character to the movie.

It had true Tarantino style in it... even though his movies are all very different they all have somewhat the same qualities in them.. totally amazing

I am going to see Vol 2o tomorrow night and I am very very excited about it./

Anyone complaining that the movie wasn't realistic, should not have seen the movie. It was a revenge flick, not an action movie. It was about violent and emotional drama. It was also Tarantino's tribute to all the old kung fu and western movies. It's much harder to appreciate Kill Bill if you aren't a fan of the old school stuff. Things like Uma's yellow jumpsuit was a tribute to Bruce Lee in Game of Death, and Hattori Hanzo was a tribute to Sonny Chiba's old show Shadow Warriors. There are a thousand references to things like that.

I think Tarantino was a genius and I haven't seen either movie. He played everyone like suckers. He made one storyboard and split it up into two movies. In order for a person to be satisfied, they will have to pay $20 in order to see both movies. It's not like a sequel because the first part of a sequel has an ending. He's making people pay twice as much for the same product. It's economically brilliant. And when a person wants to get the movies on DVD, they will again have to pay twice the money (more than $40) to get 1 full storyline. By no means am I knocking Tarantino for this, for he used his intelligence to play the game. Charles Dickens did the exact same thing when he wrote Great Expectations. Dickens was being payed per chapter, so he drew out the book for as long as he possibly could (resulting in a 57-chapter masterpiece).

I'll see both volumes eventually, but I won't be playing Tarantino's game by paying for them. I'll probably download them off the internet or see them at a friend's house.

It was so unrealistic, that when i saw vol.1 in the theaters, I was laughing my head off at the end big fight scene. People were giving me weird looks, but so what! hahaha. It was just so ridiculous that i could not help stop laughing.

The music in the movie is awesome. My fav songs are when Uma receives the new sword from the Japanese guy, and then the song at the last scene with Oren Ishii

Im looking forward to Vol.2

ps139 why were you laughing at the end fight? I loved that scene, in the snow, and the fight was the best part of the movie.
I couldnt help myself. The blood and the swordfight moves are so ridiculous that I could not help but laugh. It soooo over the top that its nowhere near reality....I also laugh at just about anything....:D

Edit: I realize you are talking about the duel between Uma and Oren Ishii - thats not what I was laughing at, I laughed at the massacre scene in the club right before that.

Does anyone know why Uma's name was beeped out when vivica fox's daughter, asked Uma her name?
I do not know why, but I think its really cool. Its like in "The Good the Bad and the Ugly" where you do not know what the hero's name is.
Adds some mystery to the story.
Perhaps we will find out her name in the sequel??

well you found out a little later in the movie that her name is Beatrix Kiddo.

I guess they were just setting us up for that? I don't know...

I thought they both were good movies... I liked all the action and style of the first one, but I also thought the dialogue in the second one was great too. I like to count these two as one movie, and I'd have to say I'd rank them second to only Pulp Fiction, in terms of Quentin Tarantino movies.

I thought reservoir dogs and jackie brown were good movies too... but I didn't get into them like I did this.
