  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I grew up with 2 older brothers. When I was younger, they used to take turns beating me up and picking on me. As I grew a little older, both of them would gang up on me. Finally, it got to the point where I could whoop the crap out of both of them at the same time, so they backed off. It really stopped after my brother had all his friends over at the house. They were picking me on for about 1 hour straight. I was already in a bad mood because my brother didn't pick me up from school and I had to walk the 3 miles home after football practice. I eventually just went nuts and bloodied the lips and nose of 4 of my brothers friends. I think they got the point I had enough.

So, big brother may win for a while, but sometimes little brother decides enough is enough!

Coach
I have no doubt that little brother (in my house) will hold his own in a few more years. :)

I've always thought 4 was a good number, because if things work out right, everybody could have a brother and everybody could have a sister (assuming you have two boys and two girls).
I dreamed of having twins - one boy and one girl.

Hmmm...I can't really participate in the poll so I thought I would just post my thoughts...

I'm not able to have biological children...because of that fact, I've come to realize that I am open to whatever the Lord has in store for me in regards to children. I know that even if I never have children living in my home I can still have an impact on the lives of children (for example, through the foster kids' camp that I started in my county).

I'm ok with 0 children, with adopting, with foster care, or with marrying someone who already has children (that last one is actually my dream...that may sound weird to some people because they may not understand why someone would want to be a step-mom...I can't explain it - I just want it!)

Anyways, that's where I'm at on the subject of kids! :D

I've noticed a few of the comments include consideration of economic ability. If I didn't have to worry about how to support them all, I think I would be the old woman in the shoe. :p
You know... I have always figured that if God chooses to bless you with a large family that He would provide for you also. I know it seems a little immature on my part, but it is just how God has been for me. He has been my constant provider.

Thanks for being so candid, D! I want to offer my heartfelt apologies, too - I should have considered that some people are not able to have children.

I think that however you are involved in children's lives you are/would be a blessing and a huge contribution to their lives! :D

No worries at all!!!! Thanks for apologizing but really it didn't bother me at all....the only reason I said I couldn't participate in the poll was just because there wasn't a choice that fit me....but I wasn't offended by it in the least.

Believe me flnativegrl having had to learn to deal with telling romantic interests that I'm not able to have children and then dealing with the rejection from some of them has helped me toughen my skin on the subject! LOL! ^_^

I think it is a very interesting topic and just wanted to contribute my thoughts and situation...

A friend of mine in HS was the second oldest out of NINE!
I'm the oldest of nine myself!

I'd be happy with or without kids (I've had plenty of "mothering" experience already, and should have many nieces and nephews in the future) - I'll let God decide. I think 4 kids would be a good number. I've always heard not to have 2 - they'll constantly fight.

My friend used to say that she always remember her mom as being pregnant or nursing a baby as she was growing up. That and the laundry was never-ending!

So far, my two do pretty well together and are very close. I think part of it is age and part of it is our circumstances. I'm sure the day is coming where I'm gonna have to referee when they come to blows. LOL

That makes sense. Two would probably be ideal for you, right? You don't want an "only" but more than 3 would be pushing it.

Three would be ideal.

Two is probably more realistic in my circumstances.

I am sure that I could be happy--the entire family could be happy--any other way, but I have never really imagined any such way.

I just hope that I [post=21594342]get to name the girls[/post]. :)

So - that post is a year and a half old. Do you still have your heart set on Justine for a girl?

I'm torn about wanting a daughter. I would love to have a little girl to dress up, paint her nails, braid her hair, etc. But eventually she would be a teenager and we would have to share hormonal space in the house. LOL

With marrying someone who already has children (that last one is actually my dream...that may sound weird to some people because they may not understand why someone would want to be a step-mom...I can't explain it - I just want it!)

I've thought of that as well and I think that would be pretty neat. No labor but kids to love and raise. Sounds right good to me! :p

Of course with that said, I'm undecided. I think I could go either way. I think I'd be happy without children but I think I'd be okay with them as well. We'll have to see.
