  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So I refused to buy any for a year but then I knew I'd want to get some eventually so he knows all the kid's tunes I know..... so I bought one at Toys R Us, my husband picked it out, its called

Fisher Price Little People Discovering Music, Songs and Games

And it is soooooooo awesome and fun, David and I now dance in the kitchen to it. He thinks its funny when I do "If you're happy and you know it...."

Just wanted to share that is a good cd and I recommend it. :)

we have a little people video - it's fun. both boys love it.

Colin Buchanan is huge over here - good kids christian music - not tacky. It's very biblical.

Try Carnival of the Animals - my kids love it and because it's classical it's easy for adults to listen to as well.

We have a bunch of those Fisher Price CDs as well.

My daughter really seems to be into the traditional songs that I sung as a kid, not necessarily the ones on the CD.

Old MacDonald
5 Little Monkeys jumping on the bed
BINGO
Baby Bumblebee
etc

I love the Fisher Price Little People CDs too!

Ugh...Baby Bumblebee... You know, that is the only song that I have ever sung to my daughter that I REALLY regret. :D Some days, we just can't "squish" the baby bumblebee fast enough for mommy! LOL She wants to sing it over and over and over and over and over and over........................

I want to get Jazz for Kids.

Brent Lewis has some great drum music...
Great point.

Fact is, babies/toddlers don't know the difference between 'kids music' and 'grown up' music anyways. If they don't understand the lyrics at first, they don't understand the lyrics - whether they be "Old MacDonald" or a Norah Jones song. So we started fairly young with our son (he's 5.5 now) to listen to not just the popular kids stuff, but instrumental jazz, classical, pop/rock, and praise and worship.

Also, keep in mind that even some of the whimsical kids songs have morbid subjects.....the goose is dead cause she fell on her head, the little brown jug is about an alcoholic, etc.

And Goosie Goosie Gander is about an STD. Humpty Dumpty is about corruption in the government.

Back on topic, I had a really good CD but I can't remember what it's called, where I bought it and now I've lost it. Which is a big shame considering number 3 is on the way.

I liked it because it was singing to the accompaniment of a piano, guitar and/or flute, very simple tunes, no electronic sounds at all.

psst . . . Jack and Jill went up the hill was about losing ones virginity.

This is the first kid's music we've had, he listened to my music including classical. But there is something classic about kid's music.... its goofy and aimed for them to have fun... so I think that's good.

My daughter has a few Cds that we listen to. One is a Sesame Street CD with all of the "classic" SS songs (Rubber Duckie, C is for Cookie, Fuzzy and Blue, etc), and the rest are veggietales. I love watching VeggieTales with her, and don't mind the music at all. But, my FAVORITE CD of hers is one that her Great-Grandfather purchased for her while we were camping out at his house during Hurricane Katrina. It's VeggieTales, but it's personalized for her! Have you guys seen those? It was just at a little store in the mall in FtWorth, and it was close to $30 (notice that I wasn't the one spending that kind of money on a kid's cd!!). But it is AWESOME! I plugged it into our car stereo, and you hear Bob the Tomato say "Hi, Breanna!" Pronounced correctly and everything. She and I are both so excited when we listen to it! lol
