  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'll be sure to pray for Kid.

The main thing you can do (besides prayer!) to slow down the progression of CKF is proper diet. Odds are, your vet recommended a prescription diet called K/D. Stick very strictly to that diet at all times. (the same company who makes K/D also makes treats in that formula, or you can make your own by baking slices of the canned K/D until hard.) Animals can live a long time with CKF, particularly when you do what you can with diet to ease the work of the kidneys.
I think you will still have Kid around for quite a while. :)

God bless!

God bless you for your reply! You have given us so much encouragement - Not too sure what the K/D diet is yet, but am sure the vet will tell me tomorrow. Kid has to stay there for the IV again. But we have given him a little water and he did not get sick.

Again, thank you so very much for the encouraging words. God bless you - Hedi

I'm so sorry that Kid is sick. My dear friend who was a sheltie died of kidney failure so I know what you are going through. I will say a prayer right now and please let us know what your vet says.

Thank you so very much for your prayer. Kid is back at the vets now getting, what I hope, is his last IV treatment. I have to call the vet soon to find out about his blood work and will get back to all of you.

God bless you - Hedi

Hi, dear friends at CF - Our 7 year old Bichon, Kid, has just been diagnosed with chronic kidney failure. Please pray for him and us.

Does anyone at CF know anything about kidney failure?

God bless you all - Hedi

I had a kidney failure once. Drinking a lot of water helps but prayer heals.

You may also want to try a holistic vet. And you may consider when you give your kid water have it filtered. My cats kidneys were messed up until I gave him filtered water.

Thank you, Anna - I will get some filtered water today - God bless you - Hedi

I'm glad you noticed symptoms before it got worse. Hopefully, the vet will have some good news.

What do you feed Kid?
Good Morning! We have always fed our dogs home cooking! Bob (my husband) buys chicken quarters and then he boils them until they are almot off the bone. We then take the chicken out and let the fat rise to the top and skim it off - then we add rice to it and mix the cut up chicken with the rice. They just LOVE it. But the vet has Kid on a special diet for kidney failure and he doesn't seem to mind it at all.

All in all, Kid seems a lot better and we are just praying for some good news.
God bless you and thank you for your prayers - Hedi
