  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I once talked to Kent Hovind in person about my debating evolutionists (I know you are not an evolutionist but this deals with debating in general) on this web site. He said many people try to debate him by e-mail. He said he would gladly debate anyone in person but he won't debate anyone via e-mail. One reason being is that he one of the slowest typers out there. Also it was either him or Ken Ham that told me that they didn't see it worth while to doing much debating in an online context when there are so many people out there willing to hear their message openly. It just is more productive.
I can see and understand your point. But what bothers me is if a ministry is out there promoting a doctrine that is so foundational, it seems like they would want to make sure they are telling people the truth.
It seems like they are stuck with a certain interpretation because of the fact that they have promoted it so much, and to change any part of it would be detrimental to their ministry.
Say for instance that AiG came out and said "We have now interpreted the scriptures to say that the universe was created in a different age than the six day creation week where God made earth habitable and created life on it some 6,000 years ago." I for one would applaud them and start supporting thier ministry, but many would probably jump ship.

Update - it looks like his sentencing may be reviewed significantly. I don't understand/know the details yet. There's some legal paperwork at http://www.penaltyprotester.com
Go to hovind case on the far bottom right column.

Keep praying!

Kent Hovind made some rather interesting phone calls from jail.

Why aren't any creationists covering this?

10 years?

He might wish he had had robbed a liquor store and shot the place up or had Martha Stewart's lawyers.

Apparently he said some harsh things about continuing to fight the system. I just don't know that to think about that.

There are a lot of very strongly held beliefs about tax matters. THere is that group that says that income tax is illegal because was never actually passed by an Act of Congress or something like that. I think the pitch is something to to effect of, you they can't make you file, but once you do, you have to play by their rules. Hovind I guess was insistent that he was like a Church, but even Church's have to pay payroll tax. One thing is also fairly clear is that promoting a novel idea about how to beat taxes is a bad way to remain a free man and generally makes the "principle" behind the whole tax protest thing a moot point.

Wow it broke my heart reading all the injustices they have done to Mr. Hovind. This ministry I'm a part of wants to do something about this. We've been praying and getting people to watch his DVDs. We also wrote letters and I hope he keeps in mind that God takes bad things and uses it for an overall good. He will definitely stay in my prayers.
