  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey Everyone :),

where i live atm its is really hot (and its only what they call spring eek) and i have an 11 month old ( he's a yr old on the 23rd of October) persian cat who doesn't like the heat at all.

Any idea on what to do to keep him at least tolerably cool. We got him after the nasty part of summer was over last yr so he really doesn't know hot temperatures and i want to keep him as comfortable as possible ... but unfortunately we don't have air con.

well we used to have a chinchilla cat and she tended to find a nice cool place inside or outside to hang out in during summer. Make sure your cat doesn't have knots in its fur, as this will only distress puss more during those hot days. And tell your cat that you love it heaps during those stinkin days, so they know you're not out to get em. Also if you have a fishpond, your cat may tend to fall into the pond trying to catch goldfish and get nice and wet....woops!^_^

You can freeze water in a bottle and put it where she likes to lay. She'll find it when she's hot and can lay up against it to keep cool. Also, you can purchase a big marble tile, those usually stay fairly cool in hot weather. Just make sure it's real marble. Also, keep her inside if you allow her to go outside. Because persians have a snub nose, they can't cool off well and also can't tolerate the cold well at all. Their nasal passages are too short to allow proper temperature regulation.

Yep, that was exactly what I was going to suggest. There is also a product here in the US called ice blankets and you can refreeze them and they are flexible. Don't know if you have something like that where you live. Do a search on the net to find products for your kitty to keep it cool. You are being such a loving owner!! I would love to see pictures of it!
