  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

what does everyone do to keep fit?

I find it hard to discipline myself and tried gyms before but its expensive and didnt like the atmosphere.

I like cycling, but I dont have any exercise regime at the moment. I dont know, I tend to get bored with reps and laps. Im not very good at sport but I think I ought to tone my body more. When people do an exercise each day and really train Im impressed they have a dedication and usually the goal is to lose weight, but im already skinny so I need to do the opposite. Lol.

Well due to my sides I can't eat a lot in one sitting so I'm careful with what I eat. I try to be very healthy in choice if food but sometimes I do like to buy the odd junk food.

Also due to my sides, I have to strengthen the damaged tissue so I don't experience such intense pain. I do strength training and cardio on different days. Yoga I should be doing more of since it will keep my side muscles flexible.

I guess I have to keep fit even if I don't "feel" like it. But I'm trying very hard to keep in mind that my body is God's temple and trying to take care of His temple. This body is but a gift.

lol.
I used to do ballet but its something you need to do every day. I just didn't have the space to do it or the time and money to be dedicated to it. It does stretch you, in different ways. I didnt' do it as a child so it was harder for me.

I hate exercising. It's one of the most boring things do.

Now, having said that, I do boxing, but that's more because I happen to enjoy it and view it as a hobby rather than doing it for exercise. I'm all for being physically active (biking, hiking, horseback riding, sports, ect.), but jogging or just going to a gym every day? Like, just kill me now.

I may or may not take up yoga some time for it's health benefits, but we'll see.

I like to run. I'm not a fan of gyms either. I prefer to do workouts outside or in my home. I have used certain DVD workout series like the P90 and T-25. I found those to be a great way to stick to a routine and stay on track. I also love youtube. You can find endless free workout routines.

what does everyone do to keep fit?
Basically, and this is really sad for me to say.. I don't really have that 'mindset' any more- to keep fit, I mean. I'm a College student but, like, a year ago.. I was pretty dedicated which..brings me to your next statement.

When people do an exercise each day and really train Im impressed they have a dedication and usually the goal is to lose weight
I'm impressed by how some can go for years..possibly most of their lifetime to stick to it and 'eat healthy' and train consistently year after year [granted, not every single day, but they still make the effort to exercise]. Me on the other hand? haa..
I could really get back into exercising. You know which ones I liked? el oh el.. jogging/ running.
If I had it 'my way', I would be pushing a huge tire, do battle ropes, do 'suicides' (a name of an exercise), and lift sand-filled duffel bags from the ground to my shoulders, while doing the squats.
Technically though.. I could 'have it my way' and do most of those things.. the only thing that's keeping me back is, well..me.
laziness. I've motivated myself before with the goals of "keeping myself from potential future hospitalizations" and potential health problems due to old age and.. keeping my body healthy and fit so that I'm able, as a future nurse, to lift patients if necessary from say.. (hypothetically speaking here) a burning building scenario.

Thats a good idea, you tube exercise vids.
Some of my gardening friends got into tai chi which I did learn when I was younger except I dont like martial arts that much because of the energy stuff coming from below.

I find it difficult to lean and remember a set of exercises and to contantly repeat them over and over and over. i did step classes for a while which is high cardio and energy but, without the teacher barking out orders and copying anyone else I would be lost.

I try to in incorporate walking and cycling into my daily routine so that I can run errands while exercising my body and it doesnt feel like a regime.

I was hitting the gym 4-5 days a week, but I had a weird lapse in my membership and fell out of the routine. All the walking to and from class that I do, I rack up probably 9-10 miles a week just doing that, and I ride my bike to other places.

Its just turned daylight saving back here so..less sunshine hours to go out walking.

If you cant go outside I wonder what exercises everyone does indoors or do they not bother when its winter?
My next door neighbours set up a homegym in their garage and sometimes i hear them grunting as they push weights. But theres no room in our garage unless we want rusty cars.

Proverbs 31 woman is said to gird up her loins with strenghth and streghtens her arms o I assume she did squats or lifted weights or something, to keep fit for all the work she did. Maybe she had a biblical cross training exercise machine.

I go to the gym about every other day - I usually lift some weights to work on my arms/back/leg muscles, and I just incorporated the stationary bike into my routine. I went for awhile last year, but I got busy last summer and fell off the fitness wagon until a month and change ago.
