Hey, anyone out there that can tell me how to stay christian in college? I know that it takes a strong relationship with Christ and some determination, but is there any advice that anyone could give me for my freshman year? Any specific situations or ordeals that any of you went through that I might want to avoid? If not, then just pray for me please. I'll be starting at the University of North Texas this year...

I haven't started college yet but I'm going to be attending a secular college next year. I started researching the different clubs and organizations at the school and am planning on joining one of the Christian clubs. They seem like they have a lot of fun while avoiding the usual, crazy college partying.

Try seeking out Christian groups on campus. Even in secular schools, you'll be able to find religious organizations around the school (like Campus Crusade for Christ or generic prayer groups). Ask your pastor or minister if he or she knows of a church in the town you're going to school in and/or knows anyone there who could help you out in your spiritual quest.

If your pastor or minister doesn't know anyone in the college town you're heading to, look for a church home on your own. It may take some doing, but you'll probably feel better if you can do that. Make sure they fit your needs and accept students - I've heard that not all churches do, and you'll want a place where you're welcome.

If you're concerned about falling, try to avoid those situations which will cause you the most temptation. Just use your common sense and stay true to yourself and your values and you'll be fine.

Well I would say don't try so hard with God that it will drain you out. Yet, just be real with God and seek him. Also, its good to be around other strong believers that won't pull you down in your faith. God bless!

Best thing to do is to stay connected to a church and find other Christians to hang out with. I know a small group of people I had a bible study with that will be attending the same college as I am, so I'll have a solid party of people that wil be able to help me if I start to struggle.

college isn't that bad, just stay away from the crazy parties or shady people their are chrisitan clubs and organizations you can join in colleges usually and are you going to be living at home or at a dorm? best of luck to you and God bless.

My school has a chapel in every dorm building and a ton of christian-based clubs. My advice to you, and what I plan on doing, is spending the off-hours in the chapel and joining a few clubs to get that fellowship aspect. Even if you read a daily Bible study while sitting in the precence of our Lord, you'll be sitting with Him...make sense?

I'm also attending a secular school in the fall as a freshman. There is a good book called: How to stay Christian in College by J. Budziszewski. I recommend it. It will give you good tips. Check online and ahead of time for churches and christian organizations on campus. My prayers are with you. Best wishes. You know what is right and wrong. Just make the best decisions you can, try your best, and still have fun.

What they said. Very important to find some Christian friends and spend your time with them. Remember God will never leave your side even at some tough times. You'll keep Christ. Praying for ya!

Get involved with a campus ministry. I'm sure there are a few on the campus of UNT.

Who you surround yourself with is going to determination your actions. Make sure you have at least a few Christian friends who are going to hold you accountable.

Understand the foundation of Christianity. This will mean you will study some types of apologetical works. This is the largest danger facing Christians today.

I'd look into Greg Koukl's works on apologetics. He does a very good job of giving quick easy amunition to challenge people's beliefs and to strengthen your own.
