In my morning devotions Psalm 9:17, "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God."
And right on the same page Psalm 11:3, "If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?"
There are actually 3 meanings that can be gleaned from the Psalm 11 passage.
1. That if the Foundations of a nation be destroyed, there isn't much the righteous can do.
2. That if the Foundations of a nation be destroyed, the righteous SHOULD do something to bring them back. That, because the next 4 lines of the Psalm say, "The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright."
3. That if ones personal Foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do: That being that a Christian has left their first love, have backslidden, or have laid another foundation other than Christ, or perhaps ANOTHER Christ that both Jesus and Apostle Paul warns of.
Therefore be sure your foundation is CHRIST, and Him alone, whether personally or in the nation, and in USA that original foundation has been hammered and chiseled till it's pretty crumbly at this point. Keep you foundation strong, solid in the Savior.
And of course, take heed how you build up on that foundation: 1 Corinthians 3:10-15,
"According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
