I've been kayaking once. My Dad and I were given a lesson as a joint father's day, birthday gift about five years ago. It was really fun, and I have wanted to go again every summer since, but I haven't been on a kayak since :( My Dad has talked alot about getting one and bringing it up to our cabin, but the money just hasn't been there.

Every summer I try to get some people together to rent a kayak and go kayaking, but none of my friends are really that into it, and it's a bit too expensive to go by myself. I did spend one summer taking rowing lessons though, that was super fun aswell!! But yeah, I'm really hoping this will be the summer I get to go kayaking again. I'm planning a camping trip with some cousins that will probably try it, so fingers crossed :D

Depending on where you live, you can probably find a paddling club. Just do some searches or pick-up some paddling mags.

I'd been playboating for a few years before I joined a paddle club, and not only is it a lot of fun, but I got so much better, so much faster. You will almost always be able to find someone to paddle with, you can usually find someone selling their gear for cheap or willing to swap gear, and it's much safer to paddle with someone who knows your abilities and their own.

happy paddling,

Zach
